Undecided to buy T10 flash player...
Hi to everybody. This is my frst post in this comunity. I actually have a iMP-350 CD player but after two and a half years, it starts to fail to play music, and it turns off randomly. I had a good experience with iriver, so im looking to buy a flash player from the same company.
First of all, i dont know english very well, so, sorry for the upcoming errors... I am interested in the T10 flash player (1GB or 2GB, don't know yet), but there are some things that i dont understand very well... First of all, the MTP mode and the UMS mode... For the MTP, I need to use WMP10-11 to transfer music from the PC to the player. OK. For the UMS (USB Mass Storage), i need to use iriverplus2, but i dont fully understand this "mode". If i change my player to UMS, I will have to install iriverplus2? Can I use the player as any other USB drive, and drag folders of mp3's, ogg's, or wma's easily and the T10 will play them without trouble? I need to put the files in a special folder? I need to use the iriver software unavoidably? I need drivers for it to work? Can I just connect it to any PC and transfer music freely? This is killing me, because I really dont want to use extra software to transfer music to the device (i had a mp3 player by sony and it totally sucks for transfer music, always needed to use their software, wich sucks). In UMS, can I connect the player to a PC with any Windows operating system (example: Win98, 2000, etc) or I need drivers? My last question is, in UMS mode, Can I transfer the files from the player to any other PC without trouble? Thanks in advance. Later |

As I understand it, in UMS mode it should be possible to treat the T10 as 'just' an ordinary flash memory stick - and for it to be possible to move music around easily since it should appear as an ordinary 'drive' to the operating system. In particular this should also mean that it can easily be used by other operating systems like Linux.
That said, as you'll see from my comments on the MTP <-> UMS thread, I've not managed to convert my T10 to UMS yet. If I was about to buy a player, I might wait until this is resolved (or buy an alternative player, the iAudio flash players look like good alternatives, but checkout the UMS/MTP situation there too, I think they understand UMS only, or UMS and MTP simultaneously). |

I bought my T10 one week ago and first what I did was the firmware change to UMS. I followed the steps in MTP <-> UMS thread and I succed. Dont be worry about that.
In win Xp you dont need any drivers(for older OS you definitely must have some, but I dont know if they exist). Just connect T10 with your PC and the other drive letter will be added in your computer |

The problem is the taxes and shipping prices, it surely will cost a lot more... not to mention that the player itself its expensive than one in USA (I guess, I checked a webpage and the price is like 50 dolars more expensive).
Anyway I just bought the 1gb player, I will have it Friday. |
