T10- Mtp->ums

First of all,
I am new here and I would like to thank all people who spend time solving and answering doubts and questions.

I am a happy user of iRiver iFP-390T (256Mb).when I bought it,3 or 4 years ago, the first thing i did was to upgrade the firmware to an UMS firmware.
I am so happy with iRiver, that I decided to make a gift to my girlfriend, and I think that an iRiver player was the best, but I knew that iRiver players comes now with WMP10 and MTP and that stuff, so I looked for a way to upgrade firmware to UMS. it was easy (mtp ums t10 and "i feel lucky" at google). Then I decided to buy a T10.

And now, my questions and doubts.
I have got the same problem as described here

After waiting for the player to say it's finished transferring data I unplug the USB cable. The player restarts, but only to try and play music, not to upgrade the firmware.

Note that I have previously updated the firmware from v1.23 (MTP) to v1.70 (MTP). I also tried moving the above file to the DATA directory after reading about the 'old' MTP->UMS upgrade route (www.mtp-ums.net), which didn't help (same result - player starts, no attempt at upgrading).

My player is a T10 with FM radio, currently running v1.70 MTP firmware (US). Any thoughts?
The only different thing is I have got a T10 without FM Radio (European Version).
I have written a post/question on forms of iRiver-Europe-Spain (I am from Spain), but no answers.

Question 1: Problem of iRiver firmware updater of problem of firmware v1.70 MTP?

Question 2: FM radio depends on the firmware (i would like)or depends on the hardware (i am afraid of)?

Thank all of you.

PS: Sorry for my horrible english, I hope you understand the post

you're not running v1.70 MTP, you have v1.70P MTP (P is for pure, I.e. no radio)
FM radio generally is dependant on hardware (there was one case of it being firmware on the H10 board)

what size T10 do you have? (important if it is 2GB)

Yes, you are right, I am running v1.70P MTP.
So there's no way to listen radio on my T10. Ok, this is the minor problem.

T10' s size is 512 and, as far as I know and read, there's no problem.
The file that iriver firmware updater downloads is called T10_MPURE.HEX and is located on MEDIA folder of my T10.
As shinymistick, I tried to move this file to DATA folder, but it didn't work

Could problem be at v1.70 MTP firmwaer?Maybe a bug that doesn't allow to upgrade firmware. I will try when next version (MTP or UMS) be realised.

in player's menu there is: Settings -> Advanced -> Format and Settings -> Advanced -> Restore Default Settings - do BOTH and try to convert MTP -> UMS

if not, you should run iriver Firmware Updater and at first try to "restore" or "revert" firmware, and then try to convert...

Step by step.
->Settings->advanced->format
->Settings->advanced->load default

-use FirmwareUpdater to revert restore Firmware. Dont click on MTP<-> in this step.

There is another thing you have to do. Windows media player must be installed (dunno why) when trying to convert to UMS.
