A tool to fill the T10 with random music
Well, it can be used for any player, but since I wrote it for my T10, I start
by posting here and see if it's good enoug to spread... The program has been developed during a few weeks of using the T10 as a device for listening to music while commuting, from the need to fill it with a fresh selection of albums every now and then. Enjoy! LJ http://www.cerebus.de/iriver/download.html, look for the LJMix link Edit: Oh, and there is also a screenshot and a feature list up there, start here: http://www.cerebus.de/iriver/screenshots.html |

I was writing something quite similar, but haven't had time to work on it for ages.
My program used a database of songs, added by folder, to choose random songs from. Other features I had started working on: o Keep track of which songs have already been copied, and the more a song has been copied, the less likely it is to be copied. o A favorites list within the database. Everyone has favorites they tend to always include when they copy music to their player. My program set a user-definable percentage of the total space to be used for favorites. I should get back into finishing it off ... |

Yes, there is always something that existing tools don't do, and so they get
written again and again. I was inspired by MixTape, and mostly missed the chance to copy full albums instead of songs, so I wrote my own. It'll have to be the same for your DB based version, I guess. |

It just copies stuff from one place to another, so anything that shows up
as a drive in explorer is OK. Thanks for the praise. I learned quite a lot about GUI programming and user friendly coding from making H3Mod, and the constructive comments around here on misticriver, and it shows in LJMix, I think... |

I uploaded a new version with three new features that I really missed after
using it for a while. I hope they'll be useful for others, too: - Option to avoid copying files that are already on the target - Option to switch off tag scanning -> much better performance - Album folders are prefixed with artist name, if tag info is available |

Don't know, I never tried the MTP version. Can you see your player as a
drive on the computer when it's connected? If yes, you can try and copy files over. If not, bad luck. The tool was written for, and tested on, UMS. |
