T10 FM Tuner does not receive any stations

Hi. It seems that my T10 does not pick up any stations after I upgraded the firmware from 1.60 (MTP) to 1.70 (MTP). I'm not sure if it's a firmware issue. It's a refurbished product that I bought yesterday. Should I exchange it? What else can I do?

Yes it uses the wire in the phones as the ariel. Do you not even get crackly reception though? Bit strange that you get nothing at all. Did you happen to try the unit with current phones prior to the firmware upgrade?

No, I don't even get crackly reception. When I try to seek a station it just keeps seeking without ever stopping. I'm using the original iRiver headphones that came with the player and I've tried using different headphones with no success.

are you sure that your T10 is not a Pure version (i.e. no radio)?

It is definitely not a pure version. In fact, the FM tuner worked very briefly after I bought it but does not anymore.

Sorry mate. Really don't know what to suggest other than taking the unit back as faulty (if that's possible with refurb). I don't think it would be firmware issue as (i'm guessing here) that if the firmware disabled the radio it would disable the menu option for the radio and not just the ability to 'tune it in'. Is it possible to reset the unit through the menu options? Try that otherwise take it back and moan is probably your best bet

did you perhaps, by accident, install pure firmware on the player (this is my last guess)

Surely the Pure firmware wouldn't let you see the radio and hear static but not tune it in? That would really be rubbing your nose in it if they let you get as far almost tuning it in. I reakon it's busted mate

the OP never said he heard static, he said he hears nothing and just keeps searching for a station

You are quite correct. Do you think the pure firmware would offer the radio but disable the ability to tune into a channel succesfully? I wouldn't think so but that is speculation as I don't have a pure T10 to test with

neither do i but living with a H10 has taught me that iRiver firmware writers will put out anything. also there are reports on the H10 boards of Pure H10 working with radio after a firmware change
