Can I recover from UMS to MTP?
I've switched to UMS a day ago, but the transfer speed is very slow - 450-500kb/s... and for my 512mb T10 it takes something around 20 minutes to be filled. It's just too slow!
My girlfriend player is trekstor I.Beat ... nothing that can be compared with iriver, but it transfers a lot faster...

Can you help me please...

I have no idea about the newer units, but MTP devices have a unique ID that I don't think can be recovered.

Thing is, UMS is supposed to be faster than MTP I believe. Maybe UMS isn't causing the slowdown.

Yes, you can convert from ums into mtp. Search the forum or go to www.iriver.com

I have tried the UMS<->MTP convertor... but it didn't work for me...
It says "This tool doesn't support your player" wtf?

Hi, this happens to me too.. :-/ I want to transfer UMS to MTP and it gives me also this warning message. Where can I download in these days firmware for UMS players? There are not links to download on iRiver web site.. :-/ I can not find any UMS firmware..

I have got one other problem. I have 2 horizontal lines of not functional pixels. It showed me these lines after maybe 1 month from reflashing to 1.70 UMS firmware. May I fix it with reflash firmware? How do I reflash firmware (I have 1.70 UMS now) 1.70 UMS > 1.70 UMS or 1.70 UMS > older one?

I have a t10. I've gone back and forth between the 2 formats several times without a problem. This is what I've been using and it seems to work fine if you follow the directions- leave the player hooked to the computer until it tells you to disconnect it and then don't touch the player until it finishes installing the new format.

Hmm, I tried to downgrade with 1.60 UMS firmware... and the player said "File Error: No firmware file"
Very strange...
