line-in recording from walkman??
i've got loads of cassettes (yes i'm from the cassette-era!) that i would love to be able to get on my t30. but my only cassette player is a walkman type. it has no line-out. just a jack for headphones. is there anyway of getting my cassettes onto the t30 or the pc ?- without damaging either of course.

Just connect the earphone jack of the cassette walkman to the line in of the T30.
Then raise the volume of the walkman to max (and it chould be about the same volume as a line out-output). Then adjust the input volume of the T30 if necessary. Voala! Now just record as if recording from a line out |

You have nothing to be worried about!
The player can't be damaged by this. Yes, i have trid this, but with a CD walkman. But its no different. You could connect it to the PC microphone input, but this is not as easy or recommended. Because this might damage the input circuit on you soundcard. Its much more fragile, and not really made for line in volumes. Stick with the T30 for recording, it sounds great! You can adjust the line in volume from the "recording" options menu. The menu is called something like: "line-in volume" Its located under "line-in setting" |

Moving line-in files from my T30 to my PC...
Can I move recorded line-in files from my T30 to my PC using the USB cord? I was hoping to use my T30 to convert some of my mini-discs to MP3 and keep them on my computer for burning to CD, etc. Wasn't covered in my instruction manual, and all of my convential tricks have gone in vain. Any solutions out there?

Maybe I am missing something but: Instead of using the walkman for this, why not use a cassette deck? The T30 can then use the line in recording through your stereo system.
I don't have a T30 so please excuse my ignorance if I am mistaking. |
