T-30 deleting problem

help an uneducated newbie

i have loaded all my songs from media player to the iriver t-30 with no problem. i want to delete all these songs from media player (my computer hard drive). however, whenever i do, the next time i hook my iriver to my computer, it immediately deletes the same songs from my iriver.
how do i delete from media player and keep the songs on my iriver???

I think you have NOT to 'auto sync' on the media player.
