S10 flickering, a dead battery?
Well, I'v had my unit for less than a year I know, probably been about 6 months or so. But last night the thing wouldn't come on at all. It does for a second, then goes off saying Battery Low.
Whenever I plug it in to charge, the screen starts to flicker and it tells me Replace Battery or something other like that. I was wondering if anyone has gotten this error before and...if I could simple either ship this thing to iRiver or if I should just ask for a new 'battery' ( I wouldn't even know how to open the thing really )? Anyhow, any ideas would be awesome. Thanks. |

Well, ended up just calling iRiver and they let me ship it back for free.
They said it's probably because of a 'dirty' usb connection I plugged it into, possibly messing up the thing inside that regulates the amount of power that goes into it. So it wouldn't hold a charge and it was being fried whenever I would plug it in, so it completely screwed up the memory and the screen. Now I'm just going to try and think of all the usb's I plugged it into that might have caused this is that is the case, or maybe it was just defective...who knows. |

360 = bad for s10?
Ok, well I think I found out what caused it. I had a friend who plugged his into his 360 a while back and the next day his player was also acting weird.
Few weeks later it just stopped working so... I'd highly advice not plugging your s10 into your 360. |

Zittoune: Took them about 2 months, wasn't too long. At first I had to find my receipt, which it turned out it was still on my iRiver Store online account. So I just printed that off and sent them that with just the player.
When I got it back, I compared the serial number and it seems they just gave me a new one. Also, it was the whole player with the box and all the contents. So I got the headphones and charger too. Having an extra one of those is nice. BiGRED84: Yeah mine acted like that for a little while, then it would sometimes start to flicker randomly, forcing me to turn it on and off again. Sometimes doing this 4-5 times till it would work correctly. I still think it was from it being plugged into my 360. Not sure. I even read the manual to the 360 on how much power goes from the front usb ports and it seemed to be the normal. Found this site also... http://www.360-hq.com/xbox-tutorials-22.html Noticed the T-10 Is on the good list, not the s10 though. If you send your player in for a new one, just tell them its flickering and not holding a charge, probably wouldn't tell them if you plugged it into your 360 if you did. If it gets really hot too, tell them it does that also. I just played it safe, by playing it 'dumb'. FOR ANYONE WHO HAS A 360... I'd highly advice not to plug your s10 into it. I could almost bet my life it's what ruined the power regulator in it. Causing it to fry itself whenever I plugged it into any usb port from that point onward. |
