At what volume do you listen to S10?

I know this is a very broad question but I was hoping it might help me gather if the S10 is simply a 'quiet' device or whether mine has a specific problem.
I am constantly playing mine at volume level 40 (as described in post S10 Discussion. I was wondering what level you might listen to top 40 sort of music in an average (train, walking) environment?

Thanks heaps,

Cammo

Between 7 and 9 usually, but then I use Shure e4 in-ear phones.

Did you try switching off the user eq as suggested in the other topic? Did it make any difference?

Yep, tried that, no difference in overall volume, just timbre difference. I wonder if I should try installing the Australian firmware? It came with 1.03 JP as I purchased in Tokyo last week. My earphones are also in-ear jobs and I am still unhappy with the volume on 40, sound quality is great though.

You will never get an accurate answer because people wear different types of headphones, people encode their music differently, and most of all there is not one set of ears that hears the same way.

same as musichound. you wont get a satisfying reply here.

it all differs on how you encode/converted your music (did it yourself from cd or downloading it from somewhere), type of head/ear phones you have (you say you have in-ears but what quality is it...are u using stocks or something pricey), and most important one's own hearing.

one suggestion, did you clean out the filters (well it depends on what type of IEMs you have). try using different head/ear phones.

oh. btw, i use ultimate ears superfi 5 pro IEMs. very pricey but worth it. and my volume ranges from 3-10 depending on where i am. in the office it goes low end...outside of office in warehouse where i work i go up to 7-10. and 10 is when i want to drown everything out. and warehouse is VERY noisy. lots of different machines on all during working hours. and this is all using the superfi.

when i forgot my superfi one day, i used the stocks (i always have a backup just in case) i go higher. like around 15-30. all depending on where i am.

it basically depend son the earphones and the environment. Like when I'm on he transit or something, i usually have it in the 30s, but if I'm alone at home or walking anywhere from 7-27 is good. For really noisy places, 40 is ideal.

When hiking, I'm usually at 5.

I think 40 would hurt my ears. I only use 40 when connecting the s10 to my car or home stereo.

with my shure E3's, i mostly listen on 8-10.
with my VModa Vibes, i mostly listen on 13-15.

These two produce the essentially the same volume; therefore, it definately depends on what earphones you have.

Hmm... Is there a noise limiter feature? I've found I can go to 20 and there's a difference up to that point but then when I go to 40 it stays the same as 20. That or I'm going deaf already. xD

Ouch... yeah turned out to be that I needed to update the Firmware. Yay!

edit: I can still go up to 40 but it's a little harder now because it is louder. I think 30 or 20 is good for the most part for me.

With my CrossRoads Mylar One X3 IEMs, I find that around 15 sounds perfect for most listening environments.
