Shuffle playlists on S10
Okay, could be a really stupid question, but here goes anyway.
Bought my gf an S10 recently, and the shuffle options seema bit iffy. Essentially, want to shuffle though a playlist which covers all the songs in the player, across various folders etc. In the few times I've looked at it, the shuffle options are something like 'shuffle folder' and 'shuffle folder + repeat' etc. I had assumed that doing shuffle folder on a playlist, regarldess of whether the songs in it are in multiple folders, would just shuffle the whole darn thing. However, in the few times I've listened to it, backed up by my gf's anecdotal evidence, the shuffle seems to repeat the same songs pretty consistently, ie. loop through 4-5 songs in a playlist of a hundred or more. If you skip forward one or two, it seems to kick it into the next loop. I haven't played with it enough to confirm that's it's only cycling between songs in the same folder, within the playlist, but this is my guess. Anyone else had issues with shuffle? |

When you select the 'play mode', my understanding is:
Shuffle folder does what it says - shuffles the tracks in a folder. Shuffle (on it's own) randomly plays tracks from anywhere in the player. This is nothing to do with playlists which are a separate method of playing tracks altogether. As for whether the shuffle is properly random, I haven't listened enough in that mode to judge. However, iRiver are not known for their 'good' shuffle modes (at least with the h120 I had). |
