Themes on the S10 are possible!

H3Mod supports modifying the S10 for a while now, in theory. But since
today also in real life. I took a deep breath and upgraded my S10 with a
modified 1.03 firmware, and everything worked fine. Just copy the S10.hex
file in the root folder and disconnect the player from the USB port. You may
want to use Windows safe disconnect function before unplugging.

The latest version also supports the new boot and shutdown screens. Those
are the only things I changed in my test firmware, so I can't really give you
a first theme. I leave that to more capable designers.

Great. I received my S10 yesterday (from MisticRiver store, after reading the
Pocketable review, I just needed it), and I planned to analyze the firmware and
produce the same kind of tool, just like I did with the Mobiblu Cube. But your
program seems to be exactly what I wanted to do, and very complete. So,
thanks. I'm going to use it.

NB: you should maybe give some more technical details on your website. What is
the firmware encryption algorithm, how the checksum is calculated, etc... If I want
to code some tool myself, I will have to reverse your program, which is a waste
of time, I think. Let's share knowledge !

Anyway. Thanks again.

If you're interested, you can get the source code from me any time. I just
don't publish it on the web because it's an embarassing mess of spaghetti
code, and I'm in the process of rewriting everything.

95% of questions are from beginners, so I'll rather put some more beginners
tutorials on the web site; technical information is available on request any
time. I think I've seen your tool somewhere already, have to look at it again
to see if I can lift some design ideas for the rewrite

I understand. I am so used to reverse stuff that people generally don't want
to be reversed, that I forgot that I can sometimes ask for the source code

Well, your tool is very complete, so I don't even see why I would code
something else that does the same (or less). I very like the "simulation" of
the new images as they will be seen on the player. The idea of integrating
several players and firmwares through reference files is very powerful. In
fact, your tool is the ultimate theme/image changer. It seems to be flexible
enough to integrate data for almost any kind of mp3 player or even cell
phones.

The only thing I could do is a much smaller program that does not need .NET
framework, but it's not exactly needed, interesting or even worth it.

I'm not sure that you can lift design ideas from my own Mobiblu tool, as it's
much simpler and can only change a dozen or so internal images (which are
very small), so I can present everything at once in the same window. Or
maybe you could try something like it on a very big window. Also, what I
wanted to add, but didn't have the time, is a preview of the animations.

Anyway, once again, congratulation for this nice tool, and thanks for sharing
it with the world !

Unhappy

Hi LJ,
I played a lot with H3Mod and my H340 since the beginning and now it's time to play with S10!
But here's the problem:
when I change one of the "Screens" I have no error but if I reload the firmware some "Icons" get weird in H3Mod but not on S10! I paid attention to the size, colors of the image but I can't figure out what's wrong..
The same happens when I change "Little battery ..." but it doesn't work on S10 too this time. No errors from H3Mod too.

Thank you for help

Oh. I haven't done too many tests, could be that I had only changed screens.
I'll have a look over the weekend. Thanks for testing and reporting.

This is fixed. It only happened when I modified, saved and reloaded
firmware. It seems I never did this when testing... Now I modified screens,
icons and a font, and upgraded my S10 and all looks fine now. Make sure
you get version 2.7.2640
