S10 shows folder contents in wrong order

Hi,

I've recently bought a S10 player, and I like it a lot. There's one thing that bothers me, though. When I rip my CDs, I usually name the files 01 - foo.ogg, 02 - bar.ogg, etc, in addition to adding track numbers, song title, artist, etc, to the ID3 tags.

I then expect the MP3 player to sort the songs in ascending order, according to track number. However, the S10 doesn't do that! When i open a folder that contains a whole album, the songs appear in seemingly random order.

I've checked the play mode on the S10, and it says 'Normal'. Am I doing something wrong, or is the S10 unable to sort the songs according to track number?

On my S10 the album tracks seem to be sorted alphabetically. I'm not sure wether it's sorting on file name or ID3 tag though.

I forgot to mention that I transfered the files using windows explorer. Just drag-n-drop. When I transfer files using iRiver plus 3, I can determine the order myself.

What I find strange, is that when the iRiver doesn't have a predetermined order set by iRiver plus 3, it doesn't choose the obvious order, namely alphabetically.

Is there a way to change this behaviour, or do I have to wait for a new firmware update?

Btw: I've noticed that fw 1.03 for S10 is out. What's new? I can't find any english site with release notes.

I've noticed the same "problem." I managed to fix it by removing the folder, sorting the folder by name and dragging the folder back onto the player. I think the s10 by default sorts things by date added unless the folder was added all at the same time, in which case it sorts alphabetically. hth

Definitely a problem. Hopefully can be fixed by firmware.

It seems to be playing in the order of the files on the device itself which is somewhat random depending on how you drag and drop them there.

Linux optimises file transfers to UMS devices for speed and thus pays no attention to file names. A real pain when I'm trying to list the 128 tracks of an audio book!. Starting at chapter 3 , followed by chapter 5 makes for interesting listening

I have firmware 1.01AU according to the device itself.
