It looks pretty cool, and a nice price, is it not?

Suppose it could be handy as a secondery player for the likes of jogging. But i think i would still want a screen. S10 would be more to my liking.

Cute cheap 89,000won not 99,000won |

Eeer....one more time iriver shows that they don't focus on what they used to in the past. Though I can't find why S7 is necessary since there's an S10. At least, S10 is cute... this one just adds to my dissapointment for this company. Sorry, but I always disliked the idea of Shuffle and I dislike this one, too.

I think this player would appeal mostly to parents who want to purchase a music player for their son or daughter. TO me it seems to be kid friendly.

But most parents would buy the ipod....because, well, you know. Its an ipod.

Yeah lots of older folks contact us and say, "my Kids iRiver Ipod is broken."
I reply, "You mean an iRiver MP3 player right?" And they reply, "I know its an iRiver, but I don't think its an MP3 player." (HAHAHA everybody has parents)Anyway, the S10 is soo Tiny when you hold it. So I don't see why this would be seen as a shuffle counterpart when we have the S10. Definitely its less expensive than other players and would be a good idea for kids who want a DAP, but can't be responsible for a $200 player. |

OK... so the S7 is meant for kids... Can someone point to me a recent iriver DAP meant for adults? Forgive my deep disappointment over this... but my point is: "Release as many S# as you like, but please, why not an H### as well???".
I really believe that the H1xx and H3xx are the finest DAPs a company ever released... Why not continue on this line? Now, what are the main specs for S7 again? Ah, yes...it comes in "Pastel Colours" (Yay!) and has a paper/plastic sticker with a "three-dimesional effect" (Yay!) I used to hate Apple for such stuff you know.... |

They should have made an Altoids skin.
Brown is a boring color. edit: How's the sound compared to the 2G shuffle? Can the software organize the FM presets?

Email this to iriver about getting new firmware for the clix. They will probably take ideas for their new players too so it's better to tell them what needs to be improved before releasing a new player. Last edited by Breakdown : December 11th, 2006 at 03:32 PM. |

It might be nice for someone, not my taste though.

Well, they took the S10, they listened to the comments about the battery life being poor and worked out a great way to fix that was to remove the screen.
You have to compliment iRiver for at least listening to our feedback(!) |

What would you use ASF for on this machine?
It is amazing how the majority of people don't know what an mp3 player is. I've been talking to a friend about IMO Irivers being the best mp3 players. He went out and got an IPOD video and had no idea that the ipod was an mp3 player. I don't get it. I'm still deciding between the clix and e10 for myself. |

another expensive player with too little storage space... (for that money you get a 2 GB Sansa here in Germany that has an expansion slot, for 19 EUR more you get a 4 GB one...)
iriver is on the wrong track. it's all about storage now and they still release silly 1 GB or 2 GB toys that were out of fashion months ago. where are the 8 GB / 12 GB / 20 GB flash-based players that look cool and are affordable??? I guess as usual Apple has to do it. |

*XavierGr pukes!!*
Well I have to agree with Yngwiejo. Again and again, step by step, iriver is getting far from better. Another copycat trick that really makes me wonder why iriver stopped producing fine DAPs. Instead of making a fine piece of hardware they are wasting their time (and probably ours) just to produce another "Apple-wanna-be" product (a.k.a shuffle-wanna-be) Credibility from iRiver is down to 0 for me.... *XavierGr goes back to dream the new H500 DAP*

This is all about product placement. The marketing goons at iRiver must have looked at their product line, lined it up against Apple, and saw they needed a cheap 1G player.
So they just called production, had them tinker with the S10, and slammed this thing together. As a parent, I would look to a bigger and hardier toy - like what Fischer Price offers - as a first MP3 player for the under 8 crowd. The S10 seems to fit the bill as the iRiver mini workout flash player. The S7 seems to be more of a "fart in the breeze". (Full disclosure - I bought my wife the new Apple Shuffle. That little clip on the back is awesome for working out. Too bad the S10 didn't go that way instead of the lanyard - not that it won't stop me from getting one though.) |

The irony is that had iRiver focused on developing the H100 series (keep the metal casing and optical ports, get higher cap/better Q batteries, add storage, add a bigger color screen, perhaps a D-click navi system, etc.), I would GLADLY plunk down serious cash and remain their DAP-slave for life. BTW, I make good money and love blowing same on great tech gear.... This ain't that. More Rants, More Attention, BBD

I think I'll dish out 100 bux just to see how it is... Suck it iPod Nano... The s7 is here. How do you think this will market? I can't really see it being competitive since you can have the clix for slightly more money.
|
|
||||
|
Yes, because I'm sure Apple are just quaking in their boots at the thought that a blatant rip-off of the next model down in their own line of players maybe taking some of the Nano's market share away(!).
I doubt the S7 will even cause the Shuffle any problems. An even bigger obstacle to the S7 being successful is the S10 which seems to be aimed at precisely the same market. |
