Optical in/out

Can one of you guys tell me about the optical in/out because when I change the recording mode to OPTICAL IN the OPTICAL OUT jack glows a little but the OPTICAL IN jack doesn't light up at all. Is it supposed to do that ??? I'm very curious.
Tnx for the replies guys.

I don't believe the optical in jack is supposed to light up at all. This is from logic, being that the optical in jack is for input, so it is waiting for a pulse of light from your cable, ie the signal.

The optical out jack would probably light up because it is the source of the signal, ie the light is the signal.

By default the optical out is turned off in the player's software. To turn it on you have to get into the menu and select to enable it.

Step by step instructions are in the manual.

Steelwolf is correct, the optic input does NOT light up.

Seadzz obviously misunderstood the question, so his answer is crap.
