Just wanted to say that after reading the forums here, I decided to get an iHP-140! Ordered and received from Amazon in 2 days... Great player! I had an Archos 20 Recorder before, but it got ripped off at the gym, so I found myself in the market. I also bought Shure E2's from a local guitar store, sight-unseen, based on recommendations here... Great 'phones!
In case no one's seen it yet, while browsing eCost yesterday, I found what seems like the best deal on Shure E3c's I've ever seen, $114.99 + S/H... http://www.ecost.com/ecost/ecsplash/...sp?dpno=401083 Looks like some kind of 3-day deal. I'm tempted to buy... anyone have experience with eCost? I'd guess they're not authorized Shure dealers, so I wonder about the warranty being honored. Thanks!

Personally I'd stick with the E2 if you are happy with them. I've tried most of the high-end canal phones and I prefer the E2 over both the E3 and E5. The E3 are anaemic in the bass department and are simply not as much fun as the E2.
Consider the Etymotic ER6i canal phones instead as they are around the same price. High detail, and supposedly more kick in the bass department (though still less than the E2). |

Welcome to MisticRiver, Yoda
Glad to see you researched well, before buying As for the Shure e3's I'd check again before going through with the purchase - it's amazing what a 30 minute 'Net search can yield |

Big D, have you tried the Etymotic ER4 s or p? Right now I have the Sony Sony MDR-EX71SL and I am considering to upgrade to the Etymotic ER4P's along with the cable that makes them into the Etymotic ER-4S's. I have a portably Zmoy so powering the S's is not a problem. But what do you think of the Ety's?

Thanks for the warm welcome, ManchesterUnited4Lif e!
Just checked again and eCost says they've got 30+ left at that price... decisions, decisions, decisions...

Welcome
Hi Yoda,
I got my H140 9 days ago and am still knocked out! I also got mine from Amazon, but co.uk and it came 2-3 days earlier than promised. I also ordered a pair of shure e2's last night, also on recommendation only. Glad you like 'em, hope I feel the same. |

Thanks billco!
I think you'll be very happy with the sound of the 2's! Just try the different size sleeves 'til you find which ones are most comfortable. I'm currently using the small clear flex sleeves. The mediums hurt a bit. I never have liked the foam things. I've heard that some people use the ultra-soft E3/E5 flex sleeves as they're supposed to be much more comfortable. I may have to break down and buy a pack. Anyone care to comment on using these? I've read that they have smaller openings (smaller nozzle on 3's and 5's). Does this attenuate the sound in any way? TIA. P.S. I still can't decide if the E3c deal on eCost is too good to pass up...

Thanks for the advice on the Etymotics, Big D!
I researched them before deciding on the E2's and didn't like the reports of microphonic noise through contact with the cable. Also... a local store had the 2's in stock and I needed an instant gratification fix.
