H1xx replacement parts
With the aid of other threads here I found the exact joystick which is used in the current H1xx player, I compared physical dimesions to a H1xx joystick sample I pried off a dead board. There are two models available, ensure that you get the surface mount model, and then there are two sub-types, a 50,000 cycle and a 100,000 cycle switch guess that the 100,000 cycle is the one to get.
SKQU Series|Basic information google, SKQUDBE010 for suppliers. Recently my H140's joystick wouldn't scroll down at all, so I opened the thing and CAREFULLY resoldered the six joystick surface mounts and that fixed my problem, that's the reason I dug up this info I was expecting my joystick to be "kaput", err the joystick on my H140....

Yep, it's an Alps part. Farnell stock them if anyone in the UK needs one: ALPS | SKQUDBE010 | Switches & Accessories | Electrical & Circuit Protection | Farnell UK
I think it was Haku who found the supplier and part number originally in this thread. It's a shame he's not around so much anymore.

thanks for the link shadesbass.
The model number of the joystick in your link is correct, but, the life cycles are listed as 50,000, which differs from the alps life cycles, but that's a minor and perhaps it's a misprint. Haku pops up now and then, his most recent H1xx adventure was replacing the sound chip, its nice having such a pioneer around.

Hmmmm...
I got to thinking if maybe Alps done the other switches on the iriver so spent a bit of time scouring the ALPS web site and found these SKRE Series|Products Line They look very similar to the ones on a old board of mine. Do you think they'd be the same or even a good replacement? Last edited by jumbuck : June 24th, 2008 at 01:53 AM. Reason: Fxed up wrong link |

Nice find Jumbuck! I've been looking for a part number for those for a while. Looks like SKRELJE010 or SKRELGE010 would be suitable.

I think I've found the hold switch too: SSSS8 Series|Basic Item
The case and terminal spacing look to be the right dimensions. It also has the guide bosses and ground terminals like the one on the board does.

Great Idea! A where to get bits for the h1xx thread. I love it Now to find a supplier for the LCD...... |

Thread stuck.

Just want to say what a fantastic resource this thread (it goes without saying the whole site is invaluable for this kind of info) is already, and wanted to say thanks to everyone for finding these bits and then posting them here.
I'm far from a diy'er in any sense of the word, but after changing a screen on a psp and feeling confident with the cf card mod and battery replacements these other little repairs and such should they become necessary will be carried out with a lot more ability and confidence with the knowledge contained herein. |

The LCD will almost definitely be a custom job. There might be something compatible out there though.
A replacement colour LCD would be sweet... EDIT: Renamed thread to cover other components.

Someone else has the honour of originally discovering the part number for the joystick, my speciality is salvage/repair/rebuild, I'm just an underpaid solder monkey. My last major soldering/building project was the lights on my electric bike, I embedded 60 3mm LEDs in a standard Cateye reflector for the front light... it's practically too bright to look at directly, works extremely well as a headlight. I sold my spare one last week. The best (well, only) known place for them is from fried players. I still have a couple of fried mainboards which have had some components salvaged from them, I think I have a spare joystick & buttons if anyone's in need. As well as a spare H1xx LCD remote for sale.
