You still have a h140 . I thought you'd sold all your iriver gear.
Possibly you should post what the problem is . It will no doubt be out of the range my (very) limited skills but I'm sure a techy person would find it easier to decide if they can fix it If they knew what they where going to fix .

OK, based on the problem you stated, I think the armature sprocket is interfering with the flow in the dynaflo.

Actually, I think the doohickie has extrapolated onto the whatchamacallit, leading to interpolated energy flow. Stick it in the freezer overnight. 100 Euros, please.

One of us might start working on it, CS, when you start working on telling us what the problem is.

OK, the green light comes on when charging and sometimes boots to the main screen but then i cant go any further then it goes blank. So basically looks like its charging but not switching on. Have tried new battery and hard drive already.

Did your player just stop working or was it one you purchased which was faulty? The reason I ask is because the symptoms you describe sound very similar to a player I fried once. I could get it turn on but only by repeatedly resetting the player , then after four or 5 resets it would boot up. The sometimes it would work and some times it would freeze.
I'm guessing that you checked for any burnt components when changing the battery?
One other thing , when it does try to start , does it matter if its connected to the charger or does it do the same thing when trying to power up off the battery. If it does nothing when not connected to the charger then you could try removing the battery and see if it will power up off the charger.

Drop me a PM/email with more details of the problem and where you're located, and maybe we can work something out.

Can anybody help?

"I tried to put some old iriver firmware back on but ""cant navigate"" to upgrade firmware bit oops what ever i press on the remote and thats all i can see because my SCREEN is broken

ok The Remote Control Screen says IRIVER 1.66K on bootup , it shows one track in the harddrive, graphics ok on
remote BUT as soon as i press anything I get an Open Folder Icon and some crashed Korean text..nothing else works after this point , loads up as a harddrive ok, have put the latest US firmware in but cant execute it.. maybe rockboxing might might be a way of tricking it?
I dont mind rockboxing if it means i can get it going.. need a new main screen as well lol..

Another repair problem

I wasn't sure if it would be better to post this question as a reply to the original question or to create a new topic. Generally forum rules favor less clutter, so I opted for the former. My apologies to the original poster for being on topic, but having a hardware problem not related to the problem that was posted.

My hardware problem for my H140 is that I snapped off the little slider on the hold switch when I was replacing the H140 battery. This switch is really tiny. Is there any way to get the switch assembly replaced, or is the H140 doomed to a life of no-hold?

1). you could replace it with another from a spare board.
2). you could use your remote for hold function.
3). if none of the above, you are doomed to hold off forever.

Activating the hold switch on the remote won't hold the buttons on the player, surely?

I had tried this (remote on hold, player unable), but with the player in a back pack I was subject to random button presses from the jostling of the player. What do you mean by "cycle" the feature?

cycle=select hold on and off and on and off etc.....

I checked the manual and the remote cannot cycle the main units Hold feature.
