Problems accessing iRiver H120

Hi everyone, I've been having some problems with my H120.

Recently, my brother's PC was infected with a virus. Before formatting his PC, I backed up some of his documents in my H120.

However, when I tried connecting my H120 to my brother's PC after it was formatted, AVG antivirus detected a virus, 'PegeFile.gif', which I removed.

Now, when I connect my H120 to any PC, it doesn't autoplay like before. In addition, while the H120 is displayed in 'My Computer', I get the following message when I double-click on the H120 icon:

"Windows cannot find PegeFile.pif. This program is need for opening files of type 'File'. Type in the executable file to be used instead."

However, I can still access the files in my H120 if I right-click on the H120 icon and click 'Explore'.

Could someone please advise me on how I should go about fixing this problem? Thanks!

Have you tried reinstalling the Hseries manager, you can download it from the iriver site if you don't have the original disk.
The other thing you can try is uninstalling the player in device manager. Control panel>system>hardwar e>device manager then right click on your player and uninstall . Then disconnect and reconnect your player and it should do the found new hardware thing.

Hi jumbuck, thanks for your suggestions. However, I'm still having the same problem after trying the two suggestions.

My problem isn't really the detection of the H120. I can actually access the files in my H120 by right clicking on the H120 drive icon in 'My Computer' and clicking 'Explore'.

Rather, the problem is that I can no longer directly access the documents in my H120 by double-clicking on the H120 drive icon in 'My Computer'. In addition, my H120 doesn't autoplay upon connection like before.

Also, I forgot to mention that in addition to removing the file 'PegeFile.pif', AVG also removed the files 'Ghost.pif', 'A0009163.pif', 'A0009164.pif' and 'A0009166.pif' from my H120. These files were also detected as Trojon horses by AVG.

Are these files really viruses? Or did AVG make a false detection and remove essential files from my H120?

Any suggestions on how to solve my problem? Thanks!

I think that GOOGLE will be your best friend on this one . I just did a quick google for Ghost.pif and found this .
Quote:
This worm drops copies of itself as GHOST.PIF in all removable drives.

It drops an AUTORUN.INF file to automatically execute dropped copies when the drives are accessed.
http://fr.trendmicro-europe.com/cons...ORM_AGENT.AAQS

and pegefile.pif and got this http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/viru...RUN.FV&VSect=T and http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/viru...UN.FV&VSect=Sn
You can download a free trial version from their home page, which may be worthwhile if you are having trouble with getting everything back to normal. Lets us know how you get on .
