Formatting HDD

Can I format the HDD using software such as partion magic 8.0; partition the drive and then just drag my files back onto the player and play them without any problems?

thanks

Yes, Make sure the main partition is FAT32 since the iRiver can only read FAT32
If you add a 2nd partition, you can make it what you want of course.

Thanks it working fine now thanks. I have partitioned 10Gb as a backup to my files on my laptop, this was in the other drive format.

It does seem start up significantly quicker now

I find that after splitting into 2* partitions, the DB update menu (1.70) from explorer no longer shows up for the main partition (read iHP readable.) I end up having to stuff around with hiding and unhiding partitions to get the DB menu back on the 1st partition.

Interestingly, I noted when the iHP partition was discovered by XP the iHP's DB update became available but once the 2nd partition was discovered the DB update "moved" on to the 2nd and disappeared from the 1st one...
