weird i never had that problem.

i suggest asking for RMA and u'll get a brand new h120. heck you could probably easily sell that and buy something else if u wanted to.

Stupid question, but what exactly is "asking for RMA"?

I forgot what it exactly stands for, but its when you ship the product back to the manufaturer for a replacement. In this case, Iriver, rather than where ever you bought it.

I don't remember getting an RMA number back when I had to return my cd player though. Odd. Maybe I did, idk.

Cool

I've had to do two RMA's with iRiver. I think the best advice is to call (toll free) and speak to speak to someone in person. Describe the problem and they will advise how to process the RMA and within a day or two you will get the RMA number via email and then send your player in. I got both of mine back within I week, but then I live in San Diego and they are near San Francisco so its close. Instead of calling, you can try to email them at support@iriverameric a.com but they are notorius for not returning emails. They open at 8:30am so I would call them early. Good luck!

When I get a brand new one in box, should I just sell it and get something else?
It's failed me twice and i don't like that...

well i wouldn't get anything other then an ipod cuz every other manufactorer has had lots of incidents of failed hard drive. And those companies have horrible service so you'll probably end up buying a new one without any RMA.
Thereby losing money which is worse then what u got with iriver.

But the question is do you need the extra features? like recording, OGG, line out? FM u can buy the itrip for ipod.

I personally thought about trying the ipod out by selling my ihp when i had it RMAed since ipods sell so fast (high resell value for 4G). But i use the recording feature so much for lectures that it would be pointless. I would have to buy additional items like a digital voice recorder which is another 50 bucks or so and itrip which is also like 40 bucks.
