Battery Charging.

Hi.
Do i have to "use" my battery in any particular way to keep it healthy?
Do i have to do full charges/discharges every few weeks/months?
Can i charge it whenever i feel like it, whatever the level without damaging the battery.

My battery, on my H140, which is going of the first full charge its ever had (only got it 2 days ago), is going strong atm. 50min recording of a lecturer, about 3-4hours of MP3 playback, with ALOT of skipping between tracks, about 10mins radio usage, and its still at 50%!. Should i charge it for college tomorrow? Or should i be ok?

Answers ASAP please, i`ll check this thread in the morning.

Thanks in advance.

The battery in the iHP series is a lithium polymer battery. There is no reason to worry about charging habits, as lithium polymer batteries are not susceptable to "memory" problems like ni-cad batteries.

charge it whenever you feel like it, and at whatever percentage you have left

I thought it was harmful to completely deplete it...

shift[u] it says that on the iriver website that its bad for it!
so if it turns off with low power dont turn it back on as it still has some power left in it just leave it off and plug it in later!

Ive just read this review of the H120: http://www.hwzone.co.il/reviewseng.p...h120-eng10.php
And it says with MP3s encoded at 128Kbps, they get 19hours 30mins of playback! That cant be right can it?

well the other day i got 8 hours none stop out when my batt had 2 bars left!
and yesterday i got 6 hours out of 1 bar! so i think its possible because the stuff that uses the power is the light changing tracks turning on and off!

so i wouldn't be surprised if you could get 19 hours none stop play.

I`d have the backlight off when im not using it, but i find my H140s screen hard to read in any light with the backlight off. I didnt have that problem with my old iPod.
Does using the remote add much to the battery drainage. What about switching off the backlight completely on the main unit, and only using the remote?

using the remote of course would drain the battery more than without how much i do not know and would proabley use more than having the back light on!

It is not harmful to completely discharge the battery but it will wear the battery out faster. Li-ion/Li-polymer batteries are certified for 300-400 discharge cycles before they start to lose significant capacity.

Here's some great info:

I used an amp to connect H-140 with my car stereo. I seems to me that It takes more battery power than without it even I turned low volume of the player. Very strange!!!
