In the US, but buying int'l h320 version- warranty question

i live in new york and am looking to buy the h320, but i want the int'l version and not the US version. If i purchase an int'l version from Asia and have it imported, how will the warranty work? Can i go through iriver US or do i have to go through iriver Asia? If i have to go through iriver asia, is my warranty even good since i don't live in asia?

thanks

I am by no means an expert on contract law, but my understanding is that if you buy a model from an Asian seller, the warranty will be valid only in Asia and therefore you would have to return the product to your Asian seller.

I had an experience of this recently. I bought a Sony camera when in the US and discovered when I came back to the UK that the manual and some other accessories were missing. I contacted the US seller who told me that Sony warrantees were only valid in the US and therefore i would have to contact Sony Europe. I did, and Sony in the UK told me that the warranty did not apply to Europe and I would have to pay for any missing accessories. So much for the global marketplace!

I was thinking of buying a 340 from Team Digital in Singapore. However, the more I learn about possible warranty problems when buying internationally, the more likely it is I will go for a home purchase - in my case the UK.
