some times when i copy a file and i want to shut down with the icon on the task bar it write me that it was impossible and when i retries it says ok.
please help me i want to use it as a storage usb disk.
Other thing there is one song which makes crush the h120 and i must reset it.

I'm under the impression that the player doesn't show files on its own display that it can't play, eg. if it's not MP3, OGG, or any of the other music files then they won't appear on the player (Only the folder/s will appear, if any). If you then hook the player back up to a PC then these non music files 'reappear' (on the PC). Or it did when I had to transfer a couple of my nephews jpegs between two PCs recently... (what a blessing that was)

The H120 can only view certain files on its own. Which is music files for the most part, to view text fiiles (.txt) you must first create a folder called TEXT in the Root folder of your player. Any text file in the TEXT folder can then be viewed by your H120.
Otherwise, the H120 cannot view any other files. But you can still store files in the player. The only way to see them is to plug it in a computer via usb (window's explorer.)

This is normal from what I've experienced. Just try again and hopefully it will say it is safe to remove. If it still persists, that usually means you have a window or program still accessing the player.

Crash? Hmm that is a problem, I never seen a file do that to any player =\. If I may ask, what kind of music file is it? bitrate? sample rate?
If anything, I'd call *not email* iRiver's tech support about it.

Right click on the H1xx/H3xx drive in Explorer/My Computer, click on properties. Go to the hardware tab and there all your harddrive will be listed double click on the drive that starts with "TOSHIBA MK...". Another window will open, click on the Policies tab and make sure that the "Optimize for quick removal" rather than "Optimize for performance" is checked/selected. The "Optimize for quick removal" option doesn't let windows cache the files then write them wheneven it wants, it writes the files immediately. I've had this before with flash drives and external harddrives.

The above is based on my Windows 2003 server work machine, I do remember that Windows 2000 and XP have similar if not identical settings. What ever way you get to the player harddrive settings the Policies tab should be there.

This should sort your problem with data out. By default windows should set all removable harddrives to "Optimize for quick removal" unless the user or windows itself changed it.

Yep, there is a known bug in XP Service Pack 1 that can cause write operations to external storage (such as your player) to take ages. See KB828012. This article also includes the Workaround instructions.

According to the KB article, "this problem only affects Windows XP with SP1 installed or integrated. It does not affect Windows XP without SP1 installed, Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows Server 2003."

Anyway, it is fixed in XP Service Pack 2 (List of SP2 Fixes). (Suggest you use Windows Update to download.)

In any case, it's good practice to always stop the player by right-clicking on the Unplug/Eject icon in the Taskbar tray, and stopping the device (Toshiba 4004 drive), before you unplug it from your PC. This ensures that any files are written to the player before you pull the plug!

Well there's your problem...you're listening to rotten music

My H120's never been able to disconnect using the hardware wizard...I just close all programs accessing it and unplug the usb. Works fine.
