Recording Glitch - Fixed by Rockbox?
I was just reading a few threads about the recording glitch on the site and I began wondering if the reason the H1xx and H3xx drops samples is because of firmware, or the hardware itself. It would be awesome if and when Rockbox releases it's own firmware that they will be able to implement recording features - without the glitch. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Although Rockbox isn't about fixing problems with iRiver's current firmware, it would be excellent if their firmware taps the potential of what the H1xx's hardware has to offer. |

The RockBox firmware will be it's own... yes, it will initially, in part, be based off the iriver firmware, but once the project is well-underway, it will be soley its own entity.
I wouldn't bank on the RockBox firmware providing anything decent for some time. Yes, they are moving at an amazing pace, but this is a side project and unofficial work. NO GUARRANTEES... so, don't hold your breath |

As far as I know their firmware will have not one line of iRiver Code. I'm not sure where you heard that it will be partly based off the iriver firmware. I also beleive that Rockbox's development for iRiver is pretty solid now, quite official.

We will not use anything from the original firmware. That would be illegal, and we have no use for it anyway. Rockbox is written entirely from scratch.
