H120 Major Problems

I've had my H120 almost a month and it's been great up until about 30 minutes ago. I used my player in the car on the way to work with the FM transmitter on the way to work and it was just fine (and yes, the car adapter was plugged into the fm transmitter). I got to work and went to turn on the player and it would not boot up. Tried it with the adapter, still nothing. Came onto MisticRiver, saw posts that said reset and I did. The player would only turn on through the reset. I was thinking maybe it's running too hot or something. Anyway, as I was waiting on CS with Best Buy to see if I could exchange it for a new one (which I can ) I copied my files onto my work computer as backup and looking down at the player it almost seemed like the screen was eating itself. By that I mean, the battery indicator was losing pixeks abd so was the USB connection screen. After I finished copying, I disconnected the player and then the screen went back to normal. But yet, once again, when I shut down and try to start up again, it's dead. I fully intend to exchange it later today but I'm wondering if anybody has had this problem - the non-booting from power button, only booting from reset and then a dying screen.
Thanks in advance.
BTW, since I know people have been asking - my serial number is
50340204060XXXX (it's being used for rebate so I'm excluding the last four but at least this is the main batch part of the number).

Update

New update, reset won't work. I figured I'd give it a few hours to try again and now there is no way to power the h120 on. I'll cross my fingers the new one is good.

This sounds very familiar, I had the same problem with my Ihp-120. The screen pixels seemed corrupted, but most annoying was the fact that it 'hung','froze' whatever you want to call it, and the only way to resurect it was via the hard reset procedure (press reset with the main unit on HOLD, wait for the hold screen to appear, then release the Hold on main unit and re-boot normally)

After 2 days, even this wouldn't work, and despite there being a full charge, the unit wouldn't even turn itself on! Wait about 4 hours and the unit would appear to work fine until it hung again after 2-3 hours of listening.

It seems to do this on random mp3's somethimes even the pre-instaleld i-river song!. Scandisk and defrag to no avail.

I returned to Dixons uk this morning, hats off to you guys, swapped it with no hassle, even though I brought it from a different store, airside at Stansted airport, oh well, better luck with this one

Woppy, you must have caught the staff at Dixon's on a good day - usually they are complete and utter b*tard piles of doggie turd to deal with over a return of a faulty product..

Usually, the only good use for someone who works at Dixons, is for target practise - i often add staff member names to the hellcat's list of targets :P

Too true, I have had bad experiences with many shops. I normally go in dressed as a scruff, but I happened to be in a suit this time, shouldn't make any odd's I know, but I always seem to get better service when dressed smarter. Who says we live in a classless society!

BTW, new i-river is the dogs, it is even better now it doesnt keep hanging!

My mate dropped his H-120 and cracked the screen. It still worked until last night, when it packed up. He took it back to Dixons (where he bought it) and asked for a new one. Without any sympathy, they said no.

i had the same problem with mine it worked fine for a month then started playing up. Freezing and not rebooting etc. Seems like its quite common. Funny thing is i had to wait when returning it for a new one for new stock so it made me think maybe it was a certain batch that was made, because my new one has been no problem.
