Check out the link:
http://service.iriver.co.kr/pds/main.asp?p_name=H140D V1.50 is a beta version posted today. Just seems to add... LYRIC DATABASE SUPPORT Whoop de doo. Look what is says in the bottom left corner of Internet Explorer when the page is loaded. Want to take them up on the offer?!! |

Ouch, that sucks the big one.
I hope there is more than that, I also notice it only mentions H120/ 140. No H100's ???

Hmmm, downloading it now to check it out and will report back!
Also, I could not help noticing the site looks updated (it now reads H140D), but the images don't show the remote we all have & love. Instead it has the basic remote that seems to come with the new H340D, makes me wonder if this is a move to bring down the prices since the iPod also comes with a crappy remote. |

no need for anyone to read Korean, it probably just says: "We love lyric support so much that we have done another one to add to the 136 lyric update files currently on your computer" or something to that effect

ooooooh who called that? I DID!
well anyway... this sucks a lot. i dunno but apple still makes a generous sum of money selling mainly in Europe and the US... so why can't iriver? if there is that much of a market in the US and Europe then they can afford to spend some money marketing here too. bad, bad choice iriver, im very dissapointed. |

oooh i downloaded it.... and it actually seems pretty darn nifty
you dont need to match lyrics or anything just hit the mark button and it finds them and matches them! i dunno i think its cool but needs some sort of text wrapping BADLY and u cant turn it off... edit: ok this has gotten kinda old already |

With all this lyric support, is there at least some site where you can download the lyrics and auto tag the song? If you have to use all the iriver crap then it really is completely useless. I might consider it if it did on auto (just so I could annoy everyone even more on the bus. Bleeding phones and me singing along to a bit of Shirley Bassey, classic)

After downing 3 prozac and three cups of coffee i feel now compelled to voice my opinion.
These guys are completely mindless morons that were dropped at birth or the forceps were adjusted for zero clearance. One-way or another they are TOTALY BRAIN DEAD and are operating in their own private time zone. It is simply a matter of time until another company produces a DAP with similar battery life, audio quality and all the features that non-Asians want. When this happens iRiver will be reduced to the third world POS company that it truly should be elevated to be. They may sill linger on making world-class coin operated parking meters with lyric support but will have been surpassed by manufactures that take a “real world” and “global” view of customer expectations. I have tried to keep this reply civil but no matter how hard I try the words !$@#^%^%$%^^&** a%% H88les comes to mind. They have spoiled what could have been a otherwise marginal day. sdz

Lmao, am I the only one noticing that on the bottom of the Korean firmware download page is the slogan "Take out! iRiver"?

ok...just loaded it up..
first thing iv noticed is that on iriver korea's screenshot, the logo's different, the word "series" looks different ![]() thought the new font looks ugly, loaded it up, turned it on... the logo looks the same as older firmwares checked everything and nothing has changed. one thing i did notice is that eventhough it's from iriver korea, the firmware is "1.50N" yupp, N for North America.. all the settings such as language and radio were all set to USA setting... (i first thought they actually listen to us US users, but that's crazy talk because all they added was lyrics support) another thing iv noticed, all my old settings were still there. usually when you update firmware, all your settings gets reset back to defult. not thing time, all my settings were still there, even custom EQ o ya.. it still says "iHP-100" on boot up screen instead of H-120..lol are they on drugs or what?

Well, is good to read this kind of posts and get a reassuring "i told you so" kinda feeling.
I have only owned my IHP-140 for a couple of weeks, and from day one i thought "This firmware sucks, i wish the Rockbox team could do a firmware for the IHPs". After posting this suggestion on tons of topics around here and getting slapped by the admins for doing so (i already posted my apologies), i thought "well, maybe they are right, the iRiver team will do it better next time". I was too optimistic too soon. Now i come here and read about this lame-effort-that-made-me-puke on behalf of iRiver, so i guess it is time for us users to contact the RockBox team and try to get a better firmware for our beloved mp3 player. It has been commented that it should be legal, i don't care about legal, $%@$% all the copyrights, i don't care about the iRiver programmers either, they are proving they are morons anyways with this kind of so-called "update", what's next, having a little animated icon of a dancer on the screen???. Go to the RockBox firmware page, look around and find out what a good firmware is all about, then go to the forums and let them know we are eager to have them doing the rockbox for IHPs. Oh, and iRiver programmers can just kiss... errr.... well, you get the idea. MADMAN |
