paint coming off joystick!! help!!

i've had my 120 for about 2 months now and i was horrified to find out that the metalic paint on my joystick is starting to come off at its corners. what do you recommend i should do? i know i could always send it back to iriver, since i'm still within the 1 year warranty, but i think it would happen with all of the ihp's. does anyone know of a paint that looks exactly like that on the joystick? thanks

Hmmm..Odd. I've had mine since the initial release of the 120, and not one bit of paint has come off of it. Former IHP owner and still Mistic member Divad, had some paint come off the body. This may be an isolated incident, related to a particular batch of them. If I was you, I'd take advantage of the warranty. Only thing is though, now that i think about it...not sure they'd send you a brand new one. Companies sometimes give people refurbed models instead...Not sure of what their policy is on that one.

hmm..i'd rather just find a paint that is like that of the joystick, i remember someone having a post with a certain paint that worked, although that was something like 3 months ago. does anyone know of a paint that is identical or near that of the paint of the joystick?

Just go to an art supply store. Like Pearl Paint or Sam Flax, Utrect etc...the geeky art guys can help you out. A marker may be better.

whoa... really?
i have had my 120 ever since it first came out, and had 100 before owning 120, also when it was first released. never had any problem with paint on the joystick

can you possibly take a picture?

Personally I'd just warranty return it, they don't have an issue with switching it for paint defects, and you'd get all new accessories as well.

I would return it, but if you're already thinking of fixing it yourself, and painting it, why not just go with the Joystick Mod. Put one of those plastic bubbles that people had suggested here, and this way no paint will come off, and you probably wont really see it.
In any case I would just let Iriver know, and throw the ball into their court.

the amount of paint that is coming off is extremely miniscule, so as of right now, i doubt that iriver would exchange one. anyway, wouldn't they give me a refurbished one? if it gets worse i'll take some pictures. has anyone else had experiences with exchanging because of the paint? did you get a refurbished one or a new one? alright, thanks for your help
