Headphone out or optical out

Is there a difference when i plug my headphones into either the optical out or the headphone out. I didnt realize that i could plug my phones into the optical out until i accidently plugged it into the wrong hole in the dark.

The "optical out" does not have the same impedance which the headphone jack does. This being the case, if you plug headphones into the wrong jack the audio playback can and will sound distorted.

The "line out" serves two purposes. One of them is for use with a heaphone amp. The amp works properly ONLY when you turn the IHP's volume up to 40, in order to bypass the internal amp.... Secondly, it can be used with :S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface)which is a standard audio transfer file format. It is usually found on digital audio equipment such as a DAT machine or audio processing device. It allows the transfer of audio from one file to another without the conversion to and from an analog format, which could degrade the signal quality.

The most common connector used with an S/PDIF interface is the RCA connector, but for optimal usage, a tosslink cable is required.

Use the line out but remember to adjust the volume since the line out is in reality a powered output.
