Guessing about firmware upgrades

Hi folks,

have been looking around the forum for a while and wanted to ask your opinion:

Do you think that iRiver will really add some substantial features to the iHP 120 through firmware upgrades? I have had mine for 2 months now and love it, but would really dig some additional features (i.e. something like a RioDJ, on the fly playlists, DB support for all file types and lengths, may be a display which tells you the song number,...)

However, when I check the other firmware upgrades iRiver has done for other products (and I admit that I only checked a few of them), I find that they don't really seem to change a lot: fixing a few bugs, adding OGG(ok, that's a big improvement), may be fixing the shuffle.

My point is whether we will really get some improvements to the player, which we would all love, or whether the feature set wil basically stay as it is and we have to accept it.

based on history iRiver will issue a new firmware update about the time they roll out a new product. If the ihp-3XX is based on the same firmware pack as is found in the ihp-1XX it would be safe to assume Feb or March we will see the next update.

iRiver is aware of the product shortcomings as they currently exist in the 1XX series and it would my guess that they implement some improvemsnts when the 3XX is released.

Just a guess on my part but it is logical.

I'm obviously more of a cynic than seadzz, and I've stated in other threads that I don't expect to see much in the way of improvement. Time will tell, but hey even as it is, this is one fine little music machine!

Have to agree with the previous post....I am not expecting great things from future FW updates. I am happy with the player as is, so anything else is just frosting on the cake I guess.
