External Battery Pack Anyone?

Mornin' from the UK.

I've been popping in everynow and then top have a look here, but finally took the plunge and joined up.

I've been using an iRiver IHP-120 for a couple of months now, and love it to bits. I've been using minidisc for live recording up until now, but was attracted by the WAV format capability. Then I started filling up the drive with my albums heheheh It's a great machine.

Anyway, on to the question. I'm going to Iceland in a couple of weeks and might be away from chargeable power for a while. I've seen the odd mention of external battery packs, but not noticed where to get them - anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks in adavance - there seems to be some knowledgable people here -I'll pitch in when I can

Sonic

early afternoon back to ya from the uk too bud

you're HALFWAY THERE when it comes to the battery thing....its a lot more convulted a solution than that 'cause at present i-river havent designed the device to "flip the battery out and change it" ...just like the i-pod infact!

however, for future use- that is, when the ORIGINAL BATTERY FINALLY DIES- take a look at:-
http://www.pdainternalbattery.com/irivermp3battery.html

im sorry this doesnt totally fullfill your requirement, but AT LEAST there's hope for the day the original sealed jobbie "gives up the ghost" eh?

Apparently Maplins is the place to be, see this thread:

http://misticriver.ws/index.php?name...t=battery+pack

Should be fairly easy to find, either on the web or via the Maplins website.

There are some links for a DIY battery pack on this forum. If you are somewhat handy with a soldering iron, wire cutters and a continuity checker you should be able to make one for a few pounds or dollars.

Use the search function for external battery packs and I'm sure you will find the links.

good luck and enjoy,

sdz

This is the most simple solution. It is a ready built battery pack with a cable and a choice of adaptors to simply plug into the iHP. You can use either rechargables or alkalines.

What is convoluted about it?

How could it be more simple?

I agree and wish that this simple solution was sold in the U.S. Also at this simple price!

Cheers for the responses folks. I'm gonna try and head into Maplin at the weekend. I live in the gorgeous countryside so I don't get into the town thatg often.

Let you know how it pans out
