scrolling with joystick/text size

is scrolling with the joystick troublesome? i imagine it would be when scrolling through longs lists of songs. when you scroll with the joystick, can you just hold it down or do you have to hold it down and release it for every song you scroll through?

also, how is the text size? i heard that it is extremely small

well thanks for your time

Scrolling is relatively easy. No need to click and release, you can hold it down, and it actually scrolls pretty fast, so you have to watch not to overshoot your destination. A good trick that some of us have incorporated is to use a glue gun to put a tiny drop of glue on the stick, in the middle, while still warm, press your thumb in to make the indentation. This really makes it more efficeint/more comfortable.

As for the text font. I feel that for some reason, alot of space is totally wasted...The screen real estate could be managed better. As for the font being too small, nah, I don't feel that way. Although the fonts used are truley horrific looking. I'd love to hack the GUI and change all that. Too bad my programming skills are as good as my ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound. . . . . .

I've had mine for nearly 3 months and it isn't missing a single fleck of paint...don't think the paint will flake easily...it is a well built player. Those reports you read may have been iPod owners trolling the IF because they are jealous of the player.

BTW, I take good care of mine and keep it in it's case so it isn't exposed to easy damage.

Paint on the nub ? Doesnt look like it at all. Just looks like straight metal (of some sort). But in anycase, to ease your mind, teh glu dot actually comes of smoothe as a babys butt. It's actually wierd tht it sticks to the surface as well as it does. One little pick, and it comes off with ease...And honestly, I find it hard to believe that the paint on these units chips easily...I've unfortunately dropped mine twice, once in the case, once not. The IHP is one hell of a durable machine. Absolutely top notch construction.

Hmm, I've not really had any problems with the joystick, and I would say I have big thumbs :P

I might try the glue tip, if I can get my hands on a glue gun.

P.S - SS, I removed the double post.
