problem with casette adapter...plz help!

ok...so i get a cassete adapter to use my ihp-120 in my car right...pay $20 for it (dont ask)...try to use..and it doesnt work. everytime it takes the thing in (barely) and then ejects it again. the package says if the tape deck does this..that i should "change the side the deck is playing". I couldnt get it to let me do this...because as soon as i would try to hit a button, it would eject the adapter. so i decide to just try it with a normal tape. ill put it in and switch sides then use the adapter. it wont read the regular tape either. again it takes it in about 1 cm (the tape will go alot farther back if pushed) and then waits 1 second, then moves it back out again. i can not get it to play...ive hit the fastforward button..but hear no sounds from the deck like its trying to move the tape. it just ejects it still.

i really really really want to use this thing in my car...without headphones. does anybody know about this problem and how to fix it? Im in a Nissan Xterra thats a 2001 with the standard 1cd/tape/radio deck. plz help!

thanks,
Robert

Give your deck a cleaning? That helped me once or perhaps that chained to a reaction within my old car's tape deck to start playing things..

Don't ever force it. Some tape decks have a closing shutter and the wire prevents it from shutting therefore not playing correctly/at all. Try and push it in and when it spits it back out, instantly try to feed it in again. Just repeat the typical loading process 5-10 times and chances are the player will accept your kit.

Those, or give up with a pride, at least you tried :P

My cassette adapter works fine...I have had this problem with cassette decks in the past..I don't remember how I fixed them but I seem to recall that repeated efforts eventually got it to take the cassette.

I also opened up both VCR and cassette decks to unjam/fix them...a last resort if you can't get any specific help. There isn't much inside.

Haven't seen anything positive about FM modulators, apparently they have poor sound and some have to be very, very close to the deck to work.

cassette adapter

the reason why your tape deck ejects the cassette adapter is because it is most likely a "logic deck" the new tape decks are made with a feature to sense if the tape is messed up for any reason. I had this in my 2001 passat before i got rid of it. You have 2 choices.
#1 Go out to a few stores and look for a tape addapter that supports logic decks. I am using one from Jwin.

http://www.jwin.com/Products/ProdDetail.asp?ProdID=73

I think this one should do the job for you, and you also get the power charger which will work with your IHP !
#2 you can get an FM modulator that is wireless (bad quality for new cars) or you can get one hardwired into your system at a car shop. (Sounds better, but pricy.)

The best sound comes from the tape deck... go get one of the Jwins, mine sounds perfect! and i only spent $15 on it here in NJ

nah nah....i dont know how this thread got dug up after such a long time lol....but i got it fixed...

the tape player wouldnt work with a normal tape either. my dad just took it and shoved it in, and put his hand over it...then repeated to shove it in and out until it worked....well....it does now lol

Cassette adaptor problems - autoreverse switching and then ejecting the adaptor

Hi,
I soloved my problem with cassette adaptor and autorevers switching by removing center tooth wheel from adaptor. Now it work like a charm! I've got HAMA 46088 adaptor and SONY XR-6700 with logic deck. I hope that this modification will work for others too.

This Was It!!!

This was the answer I have been looking for. I have a Sony piece of crap that you can't separate because it's molded plastic. But I have a generic that I removed the middle wheel and *BING* worked like a charm! Let's go Sansa MP3 Player. We've got places to go! Thanks guys!
