Install OS to ihp-120 ?
Hi,all
I am fresh here. Does anyone know how to install windows or linux to the player, and make it bootable for computer? is it possible ? Thank. |

my guess is that you wouldnt be able to boot it from the player. bios does not detect the usb devices...only windows itself does..so you wouldnt be able to boot from something that doesnt exists to the bios.

my computer can boot from usb 2.0 so it might be able to boot from the iriver.

my comp an also read my ihp in bios..
but what's the point really? if you are running an os off it, the HDD has to spin all the time. which would cut down your battery life by hours and im really not sure if the poor little HDD can take that kind of usage |

It would depend on how new the PC is you're connecting to, some newer motherboards have the option to boot from USB devices in the boot order menu. I havent been able to try this yet as my player hasnt arrived so would be interested to know if it works!

Definitely something I've been planning to try, as soon as my shipping woes are gone and I get my iHP-120, I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes, though I don't think I'll be using it dedicated or anything, just for 30 min or so as a test.

I don't know much about this subject myself, but perhaps this site can help you:
