apple mac tagging software

Hope this is in the right thread!
Had my H140 for a year and a half and its been fine. I Have now just bought a new ibook after using a pc laptop for many years - and now of course I can't use anything!
Can anyone recommend good tagging software for the mac, something as good as the Godfather?
Is there any equivalent to TDT for contracting file names?
Finally - what is the best equivalent to iTunes? I don't like something which tries to do everything for me and wondered if Winamp ran on Macs?

Any iriver mac users out there - your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hello abramelin,

For ripping CDs and/or encoding my Live or DJ recordings I use iTunes in connection with iTunes-Lame. This has the advantage that it nicely tags my files and creates Artist/Album folders for me. I switched automatic managing in iTunes off, so I can do organising myself.

For managing mp3-tags I use ID3X, this is not free but very cool. Has finder context menu information (right-click - ctrl-click for those without a two-buttons mouse) for all tags and lets me open ID3X for editing tags directly from the context menu. Has a lot of batch features too. See http://www.three-2-one.de/321apps/ma...bal/index1.htm

Thanks for the suggestions and links - I have downloaded both programs so will give them a go - as well as learning how to use iTunes properly!
Cheers!
