1.6 K firmware - battery pack support?

Reading the 1.6 Korean firmware page through Babelfish it says:

"2. H100 series outside market battery pack support

- The H100 it will be able to use the series outside market battery pack in order, it improved.

Reference: The LOW Oh answer it sprouts from BATTERY condition and it connects, voltage to one time below schedule level all the member goes out,
Rightly the use is possible from the condition where has become which degree charging."

Can anyone understand what the translation is trying to say? All I think I can make out is something about being able to use an external battery pack even if it doesn't have enough power to charge the internal battery?

You know what...? I have no idea

Maybe iRiver are planning to release an external battery pack? Who knows!

A bright (albeit hardware-related) future awaits us all!

An external battery pack for the H100 series is indeed now available. Trying to get some as we speak.

For what I've understood there's an official battery pack available (like Jeff said). But this doesn't mean you can plug any battery pack. Maybe there's a special mechanism...

Is there anything specifically different with the external battery pack than a homebrew 4x AA pack with a power lead? I can't see how it would connect differently unless they utilised the USB port.

Tried to find a picture of the H3xx external battery pack but nothing.

If what I know is what I know, the H1x switches to charge mode when the full lenght of the pin is inserted. I believe that iRiver may attempt to repace this with a shorter pin which will not switch to charge mode. I is also possiable for it to use a combination of the usual power addaption plug and USB connector and a small chip to tell the unit it is not charging, but on the EXT pack. OR you might switch to it in the options menu
