iriver says no to the H100 lcd remote on the H300 series
lots of people say it works perfectly fine.. and i watched Jeff's video about using the LCD remote on the H340 but i wrote to iRiver and they said this...
Dear iRiver User, Thanks for your email. We are sorry that iRiver doesn't suggest user to use H100's LCD remote on H320. As the firmware upgrade with H320 will focus on the according to allocation with the H320's button. If you have further enquiries, please feel free to contact us again. Regards Shira i dont not have the H100 series remote at the moment but i was planing to buy one... Should i get one? |

Hey man! It'z alrite!
My IMP's (550) worx perfectly on H340 (1.04e) And, when I had H120, I have connectd remote to iMP550! And it DID work. SO IMP's and IHP's remotes are completely identical. The only difference is button labelzzz! SO! Buy damn imp550 remote for $20 and groove!!! |

i fink iRiver support is talking about the next firmware upgrade, in October... perhaps the buttons will be reconfigured and the H100 remote or iMP550 remotes wont work after the october update

it WILL work!
because LCD is fully supported! You can even see adapted from color LCD icons. Remote works slightly different from H100's, but naturally for H300! AND It is clearly said, that LCD remote is sold separately in manual. SO Don't worry man, buy it damn thing! It's not damn expensive to hesitate. |

It is just possible that they may re-work the controls so the old remote no longer works but my H100 remote works fine on an H340 at the moment, it was only £19 though so if it stopped after october I'd probably still feel like I'd got reasonable value out of it. The new remote they were replacing it with though would have to offer something revolutionary though for them to justify doing it!
Fluidity.

Currently the H120 remote even displays the H300 icons, so its clearly supported by firmware, its not just luck that it works. However, judging by this response, they may remove this code from coming firmware versions, maybe to make us buy an hipothetical H300 LCD, wich is mentioned in the manual. I would not get it until I see what happens .... I think the most sensible thing would be to sell the H100-IHP-550 remote for the H300, but who knows...
This situation reminds me of the original Creative Jukebox, wich featured an IR port for a remote that was never released. They even sold some units with the promise to send the remote free when available. (and we complain about delays in firmware updates...) |
