Optical Use
I just bought an optical cable for my H140 and plugged it into my stereo, but it won't play. I've never used an optical cable before.. is there something special I need to do? I put my stereo on Auxiliary, but it still won't work. Please help!

You have to go into the menu (HOLD the navi down) and turn optical-out on. Then it will be glowing red as Haku suggests.

On my stereo, the optical input is labeled "Digital In" rather than "Aux"...
Yes, take a look at the optical out port on the iHP without the cord in it to make sure it's glowing. Also wiggle it around a bit, unplug and plug back in.. I've had a problem with the iHP optical out (or maybe my toslink-1/8" adapter) where it doesn't get a good connection sometimes. I suspect you aren't on the right input on your stereo. |

I would take a good look at the back of your stereo, the optical port should be labled with which input it is, and i dont think it would be Aux. For instance, my stereo has a white box labled "DVD/LD" (its several years old, and yes the LD stands for Laser Disk). In that white box there is a normal RCA type audio input, and an optical and coax digital input.

My stereo has 4 optical sockets in the Digital Sound Processor separate......one is a cd input, one is a Video Disc Player Input and then a DAT input....and a DAT output. Obviously my CD player is plugged in to the CD input....so whether my HP120 would work in the DAT or VDP input would take experimenting with.
Clearly jcb8642 has to check the HP120's output first though. |
