NOOB firmware question

Hi all. I'm relatively new to this forum and must say I was relieved to find it after the dismal one at iriveramerica.com. Anyway, being such a noob to the iHP drives, I have a firmware question. I tried to find my answer in the forums, but there were hundreds of results that came back from my search so I'm starting a (hopefully short/helpful) thread. I was wondering if the firmware that is designed for the iHP 120 will work w/the 140? As I understand it, the two are identicle except for drive capacities. Currently I have version 1.19v. I see in the downloads section that there is a 1.50 version out for the 120. Nothing on the page lists anything for the 140...thus my curiousity. I'm also aware of the scheduled firmware release that iRiver has promised for both May and June.

Anyway, love the forum. Have already gleaned much information from several clever people. (the one that sticks out is whoever (Tryagain?) came up with the idea of using IKEA silicone nubs for the joystick. EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!

The 1.40 firmware is the exact same for both players and that's what I have on my H140. The only thing that 1.50N has to offer is the Lyric support which is the most amazing feature in the world!!!!! If you choose, you can sing along to all your happy tunes and piss off everyone around!!!

But yes, they are the same firmware for both players.

Yeah, the FBI is probably watching too, backing up the RIAA. Lyrics are more valuable to them than the actual music......everybody knows that right? And as for "Louie Louie", that song has words?!? Wow, you really do learn something new everyday!!!

Where'd you get them? Find them on the ground after one of your lyric rumbles?

Actually, I was thinking the other day that it would be a terrific idea if we could actually practice our karaoke on our little machines... you know, singalong and record at the same time!

PS: iRiver firmware guys....I'm just kidding!

As the H300 range can play videos, do you think it will have the "bouncing ball" karaoke ability?

I've been searching for the lyrics to Herb Alberts "Keep Your Eye On Me" Album for months now. Anyone know where I could find it. I really want to take advantage of the LS function but without the words the player is useless.

thanks,

sdz

The H300 won't have video reading abiliy...
The color LCD is only for jpeg viewing...

The iriver video players will be:
-PCP-1xx: "Media2Go" iRiver device: only WMV support... Unintersting
-PMP-1xx: Audio Video player based on Linux: more powerfull than crosoft one it will support MPEG4: DivX and Xvid, but maybe not DivX3.11 and more probably neither DivX5 "pro" (in fact it mean abusively DivX5 with Qpixel and GMC)

Bye.

Cheers Tang, I stand corrected.

But on lyric's, which sites can get them from? I'd like to give it a go but I don't want to type out all the stuff.
