Cool Pic H320 Review.Carbon skin moddable?

Hi all!

Found a great pic review of the H320. Note that it's quite graphic intensive.

http://club.iriver.co.kr/column/view...g=&idx=485

In this review we see the H320 and it's accessories, but more inmortantly we see a dissection of it. The best thing that I saw was that it looks like the 'carbon skin' is MODDABLE! I imagine that one can just paint the carbon plastic and it will be gone! Isn't that freeking cool?!?!

Seems like the reason this player is so bulky is that it has two layers of plastic around it. I imagine it makes it sturdy. Can't say I would like a H320 that falls 2 floors and doesn't crack with a busted HDD.

Thanks to sj-mj33 for a kick ass review!

Its extemely sturdy, I don't think I've ever owned anything quite this firmly built before, no wrattle or give in any part of it,

I reckon you could be right, it won't be long before people starting modding it. I think the tinted plastic may well dull out a lot od colour though, so some classy black and shit artwork may well be the way to go, I'm not trying it though, my artistic talent is about on par with that of a wingless penguin!

Fluidity.

Really bulky?

Is the H320 really that bulky. Everything about it seems fine but compared to other players it seems and look bulky from the pics. Can you carry it in your shirt pocket comfortably?

Jeff claims its a beast but it fits his shirtpocket without a problem, and he has the 40 GB version if I'm not mistaken!

Thats really good news!
I'm due to receive my H340 today, however, only in Fractal Black style. I actually dont like it and much prefer the Carbon Black style, but thats not available here in Dubai. So now I can change it, that's perfect. Anybody wanna trade the fractal layout sheet against the carbon?

Well, first I have to get mine...[/img]

WOW
Now that's a pretty detailed view over there.
Nice, very nice!!!
Now what are the odds of getting a similar case for the H1xx series.
That's just beatiful, the clip on it looks like the perfect size.
Wishfull thinking huh?

The h3xx series are only actually a couple of mm thicker than their equivalent h1xx model.

Looking at my player i think i know the reason why they seem so much thicker in pictures than the h1xx series, the h3xx has 2 main sections and one tiny sections to make up its thickness whereas the h1xx has the one thick central section and the thinner outer bits making up its thickness.

What I'm wondering is, can you leave off the inside plastic shell all together, and just use the top piece ? It would be really cool looking to have a see through DAP ! And if it took away some of the bulk, that would be cool too.

Hmm..looking at those pics, I guess not. Looks like it rides piggy back and couldn't fit into the slots without the actual inside plastic cover. Too bad. I'm assuming though, that the same mod could be done for the front section as well. The only thing I don't understand about this model, is why they opted to use an LCD that required more depth ? Certainly OLED would have been a better choice ? Or is there another reason as to why it's such a hulking beast ? Honestly, I can put my IHP in a shirt pocket, but is it comfortable like that ? Hell no. And I seriously doubt that this thing would feel good in a front shirt pocket...It looks like it would tear your shirt from the weight !

OLED is better and thinner and doesn't need backlighting. But its more expensive and has a short lifespan.

The H320 is exactly 1mm thicker than the H120 and that doesn't take into account the joystick on the 120 so in reality the 120 is actually thicker!

The H340 is noticeably bigger but yes, it does fit nicely in a dress shirt pocket. Could it be smaller, sure, the Ipod 40gb is thinner but hey it's an Ipod...
