Something That Happened To HD Scared The ^%$^%$ Out Of Me!
as i was using my h120 i started to notice that one side of my lcd was darker than the other. so i tilted the player and noticed that the lcd was somewhat burning.... slowly getting darker. i got really nervous so i turned it off and left the player alone for a while. turned it on to check again and the dark spot was gone.... could it be that the player is overheating or is this natural? has anyone experienced the same problem? should i contact iriver and ask for a replacement?

Not to worry. I've experienced this when I have my 140 in my pocket on a hot day, sometimes even if it's just sitting on a shelf in a humid room. I believe there was already another topic about this, maybe try searching for "black lcd" or something. Unless it permanently stays black, I wouldn't worry at all. I forget why this happens in scientific terms, but heat will make a black blotch appear on the screen. I think they suggest in the manual or something to keep the player in temperatures ranging from x degrees to x degrees. Maybe it was max 40 degrees celsius... Hope this helps...

Ya... I was laying out in the sun listening to my iHP yesterday and it got hot from the sun and the screen got dark. It's totally normal for LCDs to do that... my Palm Pilot does the same thing if I leave it my car in the sun or something. That's why in the Control Panel you can adjust the contrast of the screen, i.e. lighten it when it's warmer, darken it when it's cold, so it always looks normal.
