Boxwave USB recharge/sync cable

Made this as an announcement since it this is a new accessory for iRiver HXXX players.

It now looks like Boxwave has completed their testing of the iRiver USB recharge/file transfer cable and will begin offering it in two weeks.

Following is email from them today:

Quote:
I'm not sure if you are still interested in a miniSync for the iRiver, but I
thought you might like an update since we have made significant progress
recently. We've done final testing and have started production on the
miniSync for the iRiver.

So our planned is to make it available within two weeks, and the price will
be $14.95 through our website.

Your assistance in producing the new miniSync has been greatly appreciated!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best Regards,

Mel

This will take care of those pesky times when you need a recharger...BTW, I highly recommend the USB wall adapter (for frequent travelers) as well, it is very small and works great.

Or did they already send you one with a different power plug to check? This'll be a 'must have' order for me if someone can confirm they work okay...

I haven't received one but I am very confident that the plug will be fine, this is their business....I would have zero problems ordering one from them and using it without being pretested.

Martin, they sent me a plug they thought would work but it was just a wee bit too small. The plug had the right polarity though and the USB cable worked fine. The power plug has a molding around it so that is what took so long, they had to get tooled up for production.

So enjoy!

wow. boxwave seems like an awesome company, real down to earth and friendly. Maybe we can look forward to more accessories from them in the future or do they only do cables?

Is there anymore information regarding this cable? I went to their website and I don't see an option of a minisync cable for the H1XX or the company iriver

Anyone?

This is for H1XX players? I just assumed this was for the H300 series. I didn't know the H1XX players were capable of this.

This is a specially built cable for the H1XX players with USB for the PC on one end which splits into two cables at the other - one for the USB connection for data transfer and one for the AC connection for charging. I assume the H3XX players charge directly through the USB connection so don't need a special cable.

Yes, it will have a USB plug at one end for the PC - USB pushes out a DC voltage just enough to charge the H1xx player.

At the other end of the cable, it will have the USB plug, and then the DC plug you normally have on your AC adaptor.

Very handy cable indeed !!

Does it only work with USB 2 ports, or can you use older ones as well? I don't have a USB 2 port at work, and that's mostly where I'd use it.

Just looked at the Boxwave site and I'm confused: they say that the cable for the iHPs charges and synchs, but there is a USB connector on each end of the cable and no connector to the iHP power jack. Did the wrong product get posted at Boxwave for the iHPs, or did they figure out a way to power the iHPs thru the iHP USB port? The version being sold is different (at least as pictured) from the prototype, which had both a power and a USB connector on the iHP end.

Also, does anyone know the USB speed (1.0 or 2.0)? Nothing is listed, that I could find.

And it looks like all the links to iHP/H versions end up at the same product ...

For your enjoyment:

Dear Richard,

Thank you for your email!

The miniSync for the iRiver H120 is a dual head, and will both sync and charge your MP3 player.

For your convenience, here is the link to the iRiver H120 miniSync product page:

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Hi,

I saw your minisync product and the features sound exactly like what I need but the pictures show connections that wouldn’t appear to work with my player. Can you please confirm that the minisync works as a charger and USB connection or advise me on a product that does so.

Many thanks,

Richard Poole

Nothing, iRiver changed their names but they are exactly the same, I assume Boxwave just wanted to cover their bases in case people weren't aware of that and looked for one or the other.

Ricky-- Thanks for the most recent post. I had sent them an email as well inquiring, including about the USB speed--we'll see what I hear back as well.

Nice show if what they say is the case!

And the car kit is especially nice price-wise: for $22, get the cigarette lighter adapter AND the miniSync, where iRiver America charges $20 for the cigarette lighter adapter alone.

Dang, these Boxwave people are great--I already have a response back:

Quote:
Dear Mike,

Thank you for your email!

1. The USB data transfer speed is currently USB 1.0. We are looking to have a miniSync with a USB 2.0 transfer speed in about 2 months.

2. The miniSync shown on the iRiver product page is not the miniSync for the iRiver. The miniSync for the iRiver has a data head and a charging dongle so that you may sync and charge your unit.

3. The details for the Car Charger is:
Voltage Input: 12V to 24V (variable)
Voltage Output: 5.0V ± 0.25V
Size: Approx. 3.6" H x .96" W x .78" D
Weight: 0.9 oz

The details for the Wall Charger is:
Voltage Input: 100V to 240VAC (variable)
Voltage Output: 5.0V ± 0.25V
Size: Approx. 3.0" H x 1.2" W x 1.4" D
Weight: 1.8 oz

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Best Regards,

Suzanne

Yeah the USB1.0 is a bit of a letdown but I'll just stick to using the link for transferring a few albums anyway as have all my current 450 on there already so not too worried about it being super quick. As you say, the pricing is very good, ordered the mobile pack which includes the minisync, car charger, travel charger and battery charger and all for about £35! Very good deal

yah, if it was usb2.0 I'd be ordering one right now ^_^

guess I will wait a few months.

although... the machine I have to use at work is only usb1.1 anyway, and that's the machine I always use for the iriver. hmm.....decisions.
