How long is the startup?

I hear the startup takes a long time.

If anyone would be so kind as to time their startup with db on and also with db off, and also tell me how many songs they have?

That doesn't seem too bad. I have around 1000 songs or so, so I'm guessing it should take me around 15 seconds with db and maybe 5 without.

Well, a lot of my songs don't have the album. (Btw, is it id3v1 or id3v2 when I right click on the file and look at the properties of the song)

You could easily fit that many songs on the H140, couldn't you?

Well, my song break down is basically as follows (all of my songs are in MP3):

1: ~3,700 songs @ 192kbps CBR (17.8 Gb)
2: ~5,000 songs @ 96kbps CBR (13.7 Gb)
3: ~650+ songs @ 96kbps - 320kbps CBR & VBR (2.87 Gb)

-1: are all of my personal rips from my CD's........ I'm still working on them though. I have quite a few more CD's that I need to rip.

-2: are from the song swap I did with a buddy at work who has a RCA Lyra 40gb. At the time I thought it was a fair swap because I only had abut 2,500 total songs on my player (including downloads). I have since learned that I got screwed out of the deal completely. I can't stand to listen to anything he gave me!!!! 96kbps?!?!?! Are you joking me?!? And he says he CAN'T tell the difference!!

-3: are all of my random downloads that I have condensed down, deleting all of the ridiculous songs to save room for the ones I like.

I currently have 2.47Gb free space....... not much considering how many more CD's of my own I have to rip. VERY soon I will be deleting the 5,000 from the song trade/swap I did, as I have no use for songs that sound like crap. My downsizing is near...... you will see it in my Sig when I finally do it. I will be about 5,000 short from what I am at right now.

Moral of it all: Quanity NEVER makes up for quality. Don't fool yourself into thinking so. (5,000 crap songs is not a good trade for 2,500 quality songs......IMHO)
