Tag Database Tool (TDT) just gets better, now with playlists
I tell ya', Ewanc just keeps on improving Tag Database Tool (TDT) (and sometimes multiple times a day--sometimes the biggest hassle with the program is downloading revision (improvement) after revision!).
The program supports WMA, ASF and OGG as well as MP3 (ID3v1 and ID3v2) tags for databases, not just MP3. It will truncate (reversibly) your file names automatically in manners of your choice, to fit within the silly iRiver 52-character file name limit for databases. It will generate detailed reports about your music, and count your music in multiple ways. It will rename your music files, based on your tags. It will update your database with newly-added music, in mere seconds. And it is easily configured. And now, it will create playlists (and shuffle or unshuffle them) based on searches of your tags for specific terms, and/or on the length of songs. Originally, I wan't sure about playlists created by tag searching. But it is interesting to find what "lost" music shows up, that you might have forgotten about. I wonder if a drag-and-drop playlist facility also will be possible and will be coming in the future as well. (That's just as of right now; I'm sure that there will be a new revision of TDT by the time I'm done typing this.) If you haven't looked at this program for awhile, you may want to check it out again. Or see if it changes your mind about db'ing. http://tdt.sourceforge.net/tdt.htm Thanks, Ewanc--great job! |

Rubycon, hard to see what might be happening, without seeing what you're doing--I've had no problems. Do you have the necessary Microsoft .NET software on your computer? Have you selected the correct drive for your player, under Options/drive? Do you get error messages/what are they? Does the software recognize anything, such as songs encoded by CDex (what I use--no problems)? Is there a copyright protection switch you need to turn off for your music? Just some general thoughts, from what I've seen/heard.
Maybe wipe the program out, and download/start anew, making sure that you're following the installation instructions precisely? |
