I'm about to buy a clix 2 (8GB), but...

Ok so I am really really close to buying my self an iriver clix 2 8GB, but the one thing that's holding me back is its durability. The reason being, my previous 2 mp3 players, the creative zen micro (4GB), and a sandisk sansa e270. The zen micro broke cuz it was a hard drive and i dropped it. I bought the sandisk because supposedly it is very durable (with the liquid metal back case), but when it fell, it fell on the head phone jack, and eventually the jack came loose along with other problems.

So, this time I plan on getting a silicon case for my new mp3 player, but is it any chance by fragile? in case you haven't noticed, I dropped my mp3 players a bit, so durability's a big thing for me.

Also, does the clix 2 have any technical issues like freezing or w/e, and if so do they happen often. I don't really care about the videos so converting issues, so those aren't that significant to me. So answers to my questions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

well the top part moves because of the click system. i would imagine a hard drop or two would do some significant damage. maybe not that serious, but i definitely would advise you not to get this if you're not a cautious user. in all honestly, the ipod nano's are very very durable. feature-wise, it's not as good as the clix, but as far as durability goes, you can't really beat it.

I would not suggest a silicon case. Silicon, while shiny, is very brittle. On the other hand, a silicone case would be ideal.

My clix2, deadset, hasn't given me any woes. It hasn't frozen, I haven't had any problems converting. Music sounds great, it hasn't broken and I carry it around where-ever.

The Misticaudio Silicon Case is great though!

to OP, if you are still on the fence about buying a clix, iriver has sweetened the deal by offering a $40 rebate on the 8GB version and $45 on the 4GB version

Indeed. I actually just picked me up a 8gig one recently and it was only 210 something on amazon. With the rebat, you are almost paying as much as a normal 4gig. Pretty nice Id say.
