Clix 2 in Australia?

Can you get the clix 2 in Australia? My brother wants one and we have looks around in the shops and cannot find one. I searched the forun and found a thread that said the clix 2 is not comming to Australia but then I read on and someone said it was comming to Australia. So can you get it in Australia or not? If you cant then my brother will get the X20 instead.

Nah i've had a good look as well and the only way you can get it is from ebay, iriver australia or the iriver store.

Its strange though, because Iriver Australia lists the Clix 2 as a product available in Australia, then directs you to stores like Dick Smith and Tandy... which don't stock the clix 2.

You can get clix 1's for pretty cheap nowadays

Yeah I noticed that. I went to Dick Smith yesterday and they didn't have it and I also went to JB HIFI and they didn't have it either. Well since my brother cant get the clix 2 he now wants to get the X20. That would next best player right?

Clix and X20 are very different players. Personally i'm not a fan of the X20. Other members of the forum will disagree with me, but really, what does the X20 offer that the Clix 2 doesn't have besides expandable memory? If anything its a step down, considering how chubby it is compared to some of iriver's other players.

I'm not too familiar with players from other companies but i believe Sony and Samsung have some decent players on sale in Australia. I'd still go the iriver way, even if that means you have to import.

Check back at JB Hi-Fi, many members have said that they've found the 2gb and 4gb Clix2 there.
Ask the employees.

Yeah my brother did. I was talking to him just then and he said that JB HIFI might be getting the clix 2 in about a months time. If they do get the clix 2 in a months time I dont know if he will get one because he cant decide between a clix 2 or an X20. I kept telling him that the clix 2 was better than the X20 and that it had better features but he didnt listen.

I am not totally sure about this: For what I know, Aussie doesn't have to play imported tax for oversea online purchase under AU$1000. If you want to be sure, Australia government has a rather nice website that tell you every custom tax they will charge you, try google it.

I did some googling. The clix 2 2gb and 4gb have been released in Australia but if you want a redline, you'll have to import.

They're available at JB Hifi

edit: oops, its been mentioned above

if you are planning to buy a clix 2 in Australia, check the iriver store and ebay first. I bought the clix 1 in Australia for $300 and found out later i had been ripped off....

Yea I found one today. I went into the city with my friends and they had the clix 2 at JB HiFi, So if my brother still wants one then he will have to get it from JB HiFi in the city.

It might be a bit late to post here, but i went to JB in the city today (Melbourne) and i talked to one of the guys there. He admits that they should also stock the redline 8gb version however the company doesn't want to order a mass order of redlines because of the problems that the Clix 1 had. That is, in selling and in buggy firmware.

I suppose that they are just a bit worried that the new clix will have problems the clix 1 had.

After more than a full year of owning and playing with my clix1, it is still as solid as the day I bought it on Sydney...

Yeah, when I sold my 1st gen it was sad because I knew that it was still perfectly fine. But my clix2 is very nice and definantly doesn't disappoint.
