Clix2/U20 Stock Headphone Question

The headphone cord is cover in this soft rubbery sheaf that seems to have a lot of memory on it's give. Meaning that because it was wrapped in the package it wants to coil in a funky way which is a little annoying. Two questions about that:

1) Will they eventually become pliable and move around like a normal cord?
2) If so, is there a way to speed the process?
