From HD player to flash player
Hey, new here to the forums. Had a question for people who first had a HD-player and then switched to a flashplayer.
My iAudio X5 (20Gb) broke down due to a HD error recently and I started looking for other players. My eye fell on the clix2 (8gb). The only thing that keeps me from buying it right away is the size of the memory. I guess the question would be if there's someone on these boards, who switched to a flash player, felt the memory size was just too much of a step down? Thanks in advance! (sorry i posted this in another section first, but then saw no1 posted there in like a week |

It depends on how much space you use. I don't fill up my 8GB Clix2 with all my music so i'm fine but if you have over 8GB's and use it all regularly then i'm not sure about whether the downsize would work for you.

I like having a small player for quick on-the-go listening, but I am feeling the strain of not having a larger player. My computer can't store my entire music collection, so I keep having to re-rip CD's in order to swap out music on my small player. It isn't a killer, in the grand scheme of things, but it's a big enough hassle for me that I'm still looking to replace my H340.
Ultimately, it's a decision for you to make, and a lot of outside factors to consider. If the disk size is really going to bother you, spend your money on capacity instead of interface. Good luck! Let us know how it works out. -hedge |

Ty for the replies. The problem is that I wouldnt know if its a huge deal for me, I'd have to buy the clix2 first and then it might already be too late. Then again I'm a sucker for nice designs.
I think ill go to the store the coming week to check it out and make a decision there. Thanks again for the help. |

I know i couldn't live without having all my music on one player and having to repetitively make the choice of what to put on. Luckily i have little music (compared to some) and so i fit it all onto my Clix.

I actually just went from an H10 20g (HD) to a Clix2 4g. The player came in the mail today so give me a week and I'll tell you if I feel like it's too big of a step down. I have a huge music library and like to have a broad selection at hand but I think this can be achieved satisfactorialy by switching out music every couple of days.

I know Ill have to make a decision, but its damn hard seeing how nice the clix2 looks. My old 20gb player was completely full and I think I have like 10gb more music. When Im listening music off of my laptop, I like turning it on random with every song in one huge playlist. I think I wouldnt be too bothered by only having half of it on a player, since some songs I havent heard in over a month. Also with my other player I had to press "next song" quite often if I wasnt in the mood for that particular song.
It's just a hard decision to make, so thats why i was wondering if there were people out there who did make this decision and if they could tell me wether they regret it or not. 8Gb is just in the middle for me. Theres a good chance its too small, but I guess it could hold around 2000 mp3's. In which case its not that bad when you look at it that way, because Ill have all of my favourite songs on there and there wouldnt be any need to press "next song" anymore. :P But yea, I'll wait for DumbPoet to let me know what he thinks about the change (thanks for that btw |

Well, the reason I say you have to make a decision is that I know, I've been there.
I went from a H340 to an 8GB Nano for the sake of portability and durability. Now, my H340 doesn't hold all my music by any stretch of the imagination, so I was already a bit used to having to pick and choose but dropping to an 8GB DAP was a big jump. I wish I could've gone for something bigger but that's the best you could get from a flash player at the time. Anyway, personally, I don't regret it one bit. Ok, yes, I did find it a hassle at first but I know that my music falls under two categories; 'stuff I can listen to anywhere, anytime' and 'stuff I only want to listen to occasionally'. Now it was a problem whittling the 'anytime' stuff down so it would fit onto my Nano but, now I have, I haven't even connected it to my computer in two months, because there's no spare space and there's nothing on there I want to take off. It's not ideal, because there is stuff I want to add but I accept the limitations of the DAP and I did when I bought it, I'm not unhappy because it was a conscious choice on my part to go for something small and the trade-off was always going to be that I couldn't carry everything with me. So, yeah, you can use a smaller DAP if you want to, just be prepared to accept the fact that it won't be an ideal solution. As for how many songs you can get on, there's no set figure. Apple advertises the 8GB Nano as being '2000 songs' but personally I can get maybe 1050 at most... |

Hm ok, thats in a way reassuring.
Leaning more and more towards buying it now. |

I'm more than slightly happy, I'm very happy.
But I believe that is, in part, down to the fact that I knew full well when I bought the Nano that it wouldn't hold all my songs and that I was prepared to make that trade. You'd only really end up unhappy if you didn't want to do that, which is why I asked the question I did. |
