clix2 8gb - disappointing

hey there

im a big fan of iriver stuff, mostly for their sound quality and little features that other players forget. I just got the 'red line' 8GB clix2 and I have to say i'm a little disappointed.

The device feels cheap and flimsy for example the (seemingly well documented) click panel thing feels like it's about to fall off. the red line part seems hand painted and looks tacky and the push buttons on the side (volume etc) ?? what the hell, those are terrible! They make it so difficult to adjust volume in my pocket. And speaking of volume the 'repeat' delay on the button is way too long and the repeat itself is far too slow. The screen looks fantastic, best I've seen on something so small but it is utterly useless outdoors, can't see a thing! the battery life is also pretty poor.

it does sound *great* though which is kinda the most important thing. if it wasn't for that I'd sell without hesitation.

i also own an 8gb iPod nano which I'm not a fan of, it sounds like crap and doesn't really do much but it feels like a quality product compared to this iriver. really appreciating that ipod scroll wheel right now!

i dunno maybe i'm spoilt Does anyone else feel this way? Or do I have a cheap Hong Kong imitation or something?

cheers

There aren't that many negatives there.
It wouldn't have the non-ipod-copy D-Click interface without it having a moving face to it.
As you said, it has a fantastic screen and i wouldn't count 24 hours as poor battery life.
It has so much more than any ipod has and has a very high sound quality.
