Image thumbnails
Hey guys. I just joined this community and found it to be filled with info, so I'll stick around for a bit
I bought a Clix GEN 1 (2GB) and I'm very pleased with it, especially since I do flash as a hobby so I can create my own games(a remake of Launch Fighters is is the works..I added nice graphics to it I also travel alot so the MPEG movies and TEXT reader is just what I needed to make time fly by Ok, this beeing said, here's my problem: I can't get any image thumbnails to show in the Clix!I tried all possible image editors/viewers from photoshop to irfanview, I resaved the images, I rescaled them, I tried looking for a EXIF editor, even found one once that you could add a EXIF thumbnail..but the click still not showing it.I've run out of ideeas. This is not much of a bother but I would like to use the thumbnail option if i got it I know I should use WMP to transfer files, but mine borked after a unsuccessful install and I can't reinstall windows just now. I use Linux and Mac most of the time, but on Linux I can't even connect the Clix(it's MTP..I'm still trying to install libmtp). I got it to work on the Mac with XNJB, and on Windows with the UMDF update and MediaMonkey. But none of theese allow me to sync images. So..any ideeas are apreciated. Is anyone using another program apart from WMP to resave/edit/sync images with the clix? Thanks in advance. |

The Clix specs said EXIF thumbnails, not that I need WMP11. Oh well..I guess i'll have to live without it until I reinstall windows. |

I got j.River Media Center and I can use that for music and images(resizes images...) but still no thumbnail
I was going to use iRiver plus 2 or 3, installed them both...but none of them recognizes my iRiver CLIX 2G. Any suggestions? |

Yeah, those darn thumbnails are the only reason I upgraded to WMP11 ... I really dislike WMP11 (it runs soooo sloooowwww on my computer) and wish I could have WMP10 back!
It's really a good thing I use Media Monkey!

So how was it exactly that you fixed the thumbnail problem? I already have WMP11 and I just got the clix and I also have the same no thumbnail issue.
I didnt install any special software for the clix (i.e. never used the CD that came with it) because WMP11 is already on my Vista machine. Is that why I have no thumbnails? Do I have to install something extra? Thanks. |

thanks Clieos. I have had partial success.
i updated the firmware ot the latest (2.2). But it still wouldnt give me thumbnails if i synchronized via WMP11. If i diretly drag and drop the files from file explorer to the clix, then it does show me wallpapers. But the issue is that then it doesnt convert and reduce them in size and since the original pics are from a digicam, they are quite high resolution. So now the pics are taking pu unnecessarily extra space because of the high resolution images which i dont need in such high resolution on the clix. so isnt there some way i can sync this with WMP11 so that it reduces them in size while maintains th ethumbnails? Thanks, |

If it isn't a lot of pictures, you can use 'paint' to resize it before dragging it to clix...
or you can try some free image viewer/editor (such as Picasa by Google).

A program like ImageMagick is absolutely great for this, once you have learned how to use it.
