Converting Mpeg2 to Clix2 AVI?

I tried to convert a video to the Clix2 this afternoon using iriver 3+, but I'm getting a no codec installed error.

Most puzzling as I can convert it with VirtualDub, but the video isn't as smooth as I'd like.

Any hints?
